Dear South Summit Family,

This morning, out of an abundance of caution, Silver Summit Academy and Silver Summit Elementary followed standing security protocol and placed the building in secure status in which students and staff are asked to remain in the building and all doors are locked. We remained in this status for roughly 30 minutes. At no time were students or faculty in any danger.

The issue involved the safety of an individual student and was resolved without incident. We take the safety and security of your students very seriously and will always err on the side of caution.

Position Overview:
The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator connects students with real-world learning experiences across five schools in the South Summit School District. This role involves building industry partnerships, managing internships, and organizing career-related events to enhance student career readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
● Build and maintain relationships with local businesses.
● Secure student internships and coordinate career events (guest speakers, job fairs, field trips).
● Meet with interns and supervisors twice per semester.
● Track student hours and skills gained.
● Visit internship sites, document experiences, and assist with LinkedIn profiles.
● Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback.
● Update and manage internship curriculum on Canvas/PowerSchool.
● Ensure internships meet time requirements and safety guidelines.
● Plan and document career fairs, job fairs, and industry speaker sessions.
● Maintain office hours, submit grades weekly, and complete required professional development.

South Summit School District is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Full-Time Recreation Program Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and facilitating recreational activities and programs to enhance the overall well-being and engagement of our community members. This requires flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
Salary will be based on the 2025-2026 Classified Salary Schedule and will receive benefits.
Qualified applicant’s duties:
• Work under the direction of the SSAFC Director.
• Coordinate planning, organizing, implementing, developing and administering of recreation activities and special events sponsored by the SSAFC.
• Help the SSAFC develop new programs to benefit the community.
• Prepare schedule of games or events, schedule officials and scorekeepers. Recruit and supervise volunteers to operate activities. Coordinate and assist with tournament and other recreational activities which promote the SSAFC. Organize and conduct registration sessions for youth recreation programs; responsible for overseeing the collection of registration fees.
• Responsible to see that all assigned programs run within prescribed budgets.
• Must be able to accept criticism from the public, yet maintain a positive and professional attitude and uphold agency policies.
• Solicit community support and assistance for these programs. Conduct outside extensions, public relations and in general promote the goals of the assigned programs. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintain up to date and accurate inventory of athletic equipment. Upon approval of the SSAFC Center Director, order new equipment as needed.
• All other duties as assigned by the SSAFC Director.

Qualifications:
• Education and experience – Bachelor’s Degree in recreation, physical education or related field or two years’ experience in recreation program management.
• An essential knowledge of recreation sports and activities.
• Must possess a valid driver license
