Featured Animal of the Week - Boo!

Sweet Boo is an adult, black Domestic Shorthair who is looking for a very special person to call her own. 🖤

Boo has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and currently receives daily medication to manage her condition. Because of this, she needs an adopter who is comfortable providing her medication each day and making sure she continues to receive the care she needs.

In return, you’ll get a wonderful companion! Boo is a friendly, loving cat who deserves a home where she can be cared for, spoiled, and loved. She may need a little extra attention, but we think the right person will agree that Boo is absolutely worth it.

Could you be Boo’s special adopter? Come meet her at the shelter!

Featured Animal of the Week - Bola

Meet Bola, a beautiful long-haired brown tabby who is looking for a peaceful place to call home.

Bola is a very quiet adult female who would be happiest in a calm, quiet household where she can settle in, take life at her own pace, and simply relax - no worries, no fuss.

If your idea of the perfect companion is a sweet, laid-back cat who appreciates the quieter side of life, Bola may be the one for you.

Stop by and spend a little time with her!

Disaster Planning Includes Your Pets!

Emergencies can happen with little warning. Whether it’s severe weather, an evacuation, extended power outage, or another unexpected event, having a plan in place can help keep every member of your family, including your pets, safe.

When preparing your household emergency kit, remember your pets and include:
• Food & Water: Keep at least a 3–7 day supply of pet food and fresh water.
• Safe Transportation: Have a sturdy, well-ventilated carrier or crate available for each pet.
• Important Records: Keep vaccination records, medication information, recent photos, and microchip information together in a waterproof bag or container.
• Essential Supplies: Pack leashes, collars with current ID tags, waste bags or litter supplies, comfort items, and any medications your pet may need.
• A Place to Go: Know your options ahead of time. Identify pet-friendly shelters, hotels, or friends and family outside the affected area who could accommodate you and your pets.

Don’t wait until an emergency happens to figure out what your pets need. Plan ahead. They count too.

Featured Animal of the Week: Meet Spruce!

Spruce is a handsome DLH black adult male with plenty of personality! This friendly guy likes attention - but he also likes things his way. Spruce isn’t a fan of excessive cuddling, and he’ll politely let you know when he’s had enough.

Spruce would be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home with no other animals, where his people understand that sometimes love means giving a guy a little space.

If you’re looking for an independent companion who knows exactly what he wants, Spruce just might be your perfect match!

Stop by and meet Spruce at the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Animal Protection Department, 1111 Stedman Street, or call (907) 228-6660 for more information.
