Get hands-on as we explore the shallow coastal waters of Key Biscayne and discover the incredible marine life that depends on seagrass habitats. From fish and crabs to shrimp and other fascinating creatures, every adventure is a chance to uncover something new.

Seagrass beds are often called the “nurseries of the sea” because they provide shelter for countless young marine animals.

Come wade, explore, and see what you can find! 🐠🦀🌿

Happy World Sea Turtle Day! 🌊🐢

Did you know sea turtles have been roaming the world’s oceans for over 100 million years?

Yet one of their biggest modern threats is something humans created: plastic pollution. Floating plastic bags can look remarkably similar to jellyfish, causing sea turtles to accidentally ingest them with often fatal consequences.

This World Sea Turtle Day, we’re celebrating these incredible marine reptiles and the important role they play in healthy ocean ecosystems. Reducing single-use plastics, properly disposing of trash, and keeping our beaches clean are simple ways we can all help protect sea turtles for generations to come.

Because every turtle deserves an ocean free of plastic. 💙🐢

Camp Update: Week One Adventure! ☀️🌊

Our Summer by the Sea campers spent part of their first week exploring one of South Florida’s most iconic landmarks—the Cape Florida Lighthouse at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park!

Standing 95 feet tall, the lighthouse has guided mariners along the Florida coast for nearly 200 years and remains the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County. Campers climbed to the top, learned about its rich history, and took in breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding coastal habitats.

From spotting marine life below to discovering how the lighthouse once helped sailors navigate Florida’s waters, this field trip was the perfect blend of history, science, and adventure.

What an amazing way to kick off our first week of camp!
