🇺🇸 Honoring Service. Inspiring Future Military Leaders.

American Veterans Mission (AVM) proudly recognizes our Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Anthony V. Martinez, for serving on the Congressional Service Academy Nomination Board for U.S. Congressman John R. Carter (TX-31) on October 24, 2026.

A West Point graduate, former U.S. Army officer, and combat veteran, Dr. Martinez joined fellow military veterans and community leaders to interview and evaluate young men and women from Texas's 31st Congressional District for nominations to our nation's military service academies (USMA, USNA, USAFA, and USMMA).

This responsibility carries tremendous significance. The young Americans pursuing these opportunities may one day lead the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and guardians who defend our nation. Identifying individuals with the character, integrity, discipline, and commitment to serve is an investment in our military's future.

The occasion also brought a meaningful reunion after more than 20 years! Dr. Martinez reconnected with Phil Hokenson, West Point Class of 2006, who now serves as Congressman Carter's Service Academy Liaison. In 2003, both were assigned to Company F-1 at West Point, where Dr. Martinez served as Cadet First Sergeant while Hokenson was a plebe.

More than two decades later, they reunited to serve the next generation of aspiring military officers. 🇺🇸

At American Veterans Mission, we believe that the responsibility to serve, mentor, and develop future leaders continues long after military service ends.

We sincerely appreciate Congressman Carter, Phil Hokenson, and the fellow nomination board members for their dedication to this important responsibility.

👏 We also commend the young men and women of TX-31 who have stepped forward with the aspiration to serve our country as future commissioned officers.

Youth Volunteer Corps Hosted by American Veterans Mission joined community partners and volunteers at Operation Stand Down Central Texas on October 24, 2026. 🇺🇸🤝

Our youth volunteers served in an environment focused on supporting veterans and others experiencing homelessness while learning firsthand how teamwork, compassion, and community partnerships can make a meaningful difference.

Through service opportunities like this, Youth Volunteer Corps Hosted by AVM helps young people build leadership skills, strengthen civic responsibility, and better understand the needs of the communities they serve.

We are grateful to our youth volunteers, their families, Operation Stand Down Central Texas, and the many organizations and volunteers who came together for this important event.

Please join us in welcoming Jason H. Freed as American Veterans Mission's Director of Facilities. 🇺🇸🔧

Jason Freed brings extensive technical and operational experience in facilities management, preventive maintenance, construction coordination, building systems, security, access control, communications infrastructure, and regulatory compliance.

A U.S. Army veteran and former Battalion S6 Section Chief, Jason also brings years of hands-on experience managing multi-building facilities, coordinating major construction projects, maintaining electrical and plumbing systems, supporting HVAC and fire-suppression systems, and working with contractors, inspectors, and public officials.

As Director of Facilities, Jason will help AVM assess, maintain, secure, and responsibly steward the facilities and physical assets that support our mission. His expertise will be especially important as AVM continues building the organizational capacity needed to responsibly manage any facilities entrusted to us in the future.

We are grateful to have Jason serving in this volunteer leadership role and look forward to the experience, discipline, and technical knowledge he brings to the AVM team. 👏🏼

🎗️ A Mother's Courage. A Story of Resilience. A Lesson in Advocacy. 💛

On October 12, 2026, Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) Hosted by American Veterans Mission welcomed City of Harker Heights Councilmember Roxanne Flores as our guest speaker for a meaningful Childhood Cancer Awareness Event in Killeen, Texas.

Councilmember Flores shared her family's personal journey through her young son's childhood cancer diagnosis, offering our youth volunteers, parents, and community members valuable lessons about resilience, compassion, and the importance of advocating for children's health and well-being.

Her message emphasized trusting parental instincts, asking questions about pediatric healthcare and clinical trials, and staying flexible when navigating unexpected challenges.

💛 For our young volunteers, the event was more than an opportunity to learn about childhood cancer. It reminded us that leadership begins with empathy, awareness inspires action, and advocacy can make a meaningful difference in others' lives.

The event also brought participants together through creative childhood cancer awareness activities, reinforcing the importance of community support for children and families facing difficult medical journeys.

Thank you to our "Youth Volunteer Corps Hosted by American Veterans Mission" team for representing American Veterans Mission at the City of Nolanville’s Keep Texas Beautiful Fall Sweep on October 10, 2026. 🌎💚

We are proud of our youth volunteers for giving their time, energy, and effort to help make the community cleaner and stronger. It is especially encouraging to see young people learning firsthand that service, teamwork, and civic responsibility can create a real impact.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the City of Nolanville, Texas - City Government for the invitation and for continuing to create meaningful opportunities for youth and community volunteers to serve together. According to the City, 16 volunteers participated and collected more than 400 pounds of trash during the event. 👏🏼♻️

We appreciate the partnership and look forward to continuing to support opportunities that bring people together in service to our Central Texas communities.

Thanks also to our Parent Team Leaders for continuing to guide our affiliate youth members to be productive citizens of our communities! Together Everyone Achieves More. 🇺🇸🤝

Celebrating Community, Partnership, and Veteran-Owned Business 🇺🇸🤝

On October 9, 2026, American Veterans Mission was pleased to be represented by President and Executive Director Dr. Anthony V. Martinez at the grand opening and ribbon-cutting for Texas Family Clinica (Rejuvenation Medical Aesthetics), a veteran-owned business at 725 S. Ann Blvd. in Harker Heights, Texas.

Dr. Martinez attended at the invitation of Harker Heights City Councilmember Roxanne Flores, Place 4, and Councilmember Brian Burt, Place 1, joining community leaders in celebrating another locally owned business investing in the Harker Heights community.
