The City of Klawock is proud to announce the official launch of Kla-Lert, a cutting-edge mass notification system designed to provide timely and critical information to residents during emergencies and other significant community events.

Kla-Lert, a unique name that embodies Klawock's identity while signaling prompt communication, will deliver essential alerts via text message, phone call, and email. The system is set to become a vital tool for keeping the community informed about a wide range of situations, including:
• Emergency declarations
• Severe weather/Tsunami warnings
• Road closures and traffic disruptions
• Utility outages
• Public safety announcements
• Important city service updates

"The safety and well-being of our residents are paramount," said Tom Kearns, Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police. "With the introduction of Kla-Lert, we are significantly enhancing our ability to communicate urgent information directly to our community members. This system will ensure that everyone can 'Stay in the Know' and take appropriate action when time is of the essence."

The Kla-Lert system is user-friendly and accessible. Residents are strongly encouraged to sign up to receive alerts to ensure they are prepared for any local incident. Participation is free and individuals can customize their alert preferences.

How to Sign Up for Kla-Lert: Residents can easily register for Kla-Lert by visiting the official City of Klawock website at www.cityofklawock.com/portal. There, users can create an account and sign up for alerts. Click your relevant group/s and then go to the weather tab to select the weather notifications you wish to receive (this includes Tsunami alerts). Step-by-step instructions are available in the forms section on the portal.

The City of Klawock is committed to leveraging technology to build a more resilient and informed community. Kla-Lert represents a significant step forward in achieving this goal.

Please welcome Officer Andrew Reynolds to the Klawock Police Department. Ofc. Reynolds was sworn in today by Mayor Nick Nickerson and joins Chief Kearns, Sgt. Cranford and Ofc. Bailey bringing our Police Department to full strength.

Ofc. Reynolds joins us from the Ft. Wainwright Police Department, where he previously served under Chief Kearns, prior to Chief Kearns joining KPD. Ofc. Reynolds also served as a Police Officer with the Valdez Police Department. We are excited to have him sworn in today as an officer with KPD.

Under Chief Kearns leadership, the City has a full department for the first time in almost a decade. We are grateful for our officers and look forward to their continued service to our community.

Welcome Officer Reynolds!
