Last Thursday, May 28, Marysville WA Police passed the Flame of Hope to the Lake Stevens Police Department. We carried the Torch through Lake Stevens to bring awareness to Special Olympics WA. The Flame of Hope symbolizes courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities.

We could not do this without the support of our community. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience as we ran around the city. Thank you, Lake Stevens!

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Washington is more than a fundraiser. This is a movement of dedicated law enforcement volunteers who carry the Flame of Hope spreading opportunity, visibility, and support for athletes across our state.

Today's the day! Be on the lookout for LSPD running the Torch through Lake Stevens for Special Olympics WA!

We will accept the hand off of the Torch (aka Flame of Hope) from the Marysville Police Department at the top of SR 92 and run it to the Lake Stevens Police Department located at 1825 South Lake Stevens Road.

The route will start at SR 92, to Lake Drive, to Vernon Road, to North Davies Road, with the last stretch on South Lake Stevens Road. The hand off time of the Torch depends on the speed of the runners/walkers, historically we begin our run between 1:00 and 2:00 pm.

The Torch Run is more than just a fundraiser. This is a movement of dedicated law enforcement volunteers who carry the Flame of Hope spreading opportunity, visibility, and support for athletes across our state. The torch is carried from the City of Blaine to Cheney Stadium in Tacoma where the Spring Games will be held.

Partnerships like this with Everett Police Department are so important and it helps keep this poison out of our communities! Way to go K-9 CIA!!!

Earlier this month, utilizing the Flock Safety System license plate reader cameras, the Everett Police Department Anti-Crime Team (ACT) and Violent Crime Unit (VCU) located and detained a male driver in his 40s with an active felony Department of Corrections warrant.

Inside his vehicle, officers could clearly see drug paraphernalia and what appeared to be co***ne and fentanyl.

The male was known to officers and had a prior conviction for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver.
He was arrested for his outstanding warrant, and his vehicle was impounded.

A Lake Stevens Police K9 responded to assist and their narcotics K9 positively alerted on the vehicle.

A search warrant for the vehicle was obtained and served. Inside the vehicle, officers located:

- 1 lb Fentanyl
- Approximately 1 lb He**in
- ¼ lb Methamphetamine
-Several hundred suspected counterfeit pills

This seizure is an example of ongoing efforts to keep dangerous drugs from reaching our community.

Thank you to the Lake Stevens Police Department K9 for their assistance.

Lake Stevens Police and Public Works Departments are proud to partner with the Ujenzi Foundation for a community Baseball "Great Big Glove Give" fundraiser through May 31, 2026.

This initiative is led by two inspiring local young men who founded their 501(c)(3) nonprofit to help youth in Africa learn the game of baseball and receive equipment (new or gently used) they need to play. We’re excited to support their mission and encourage our community to get involved. Learn more about Ujenzi Foundation and their work at: https://www.ujenzifoundation.org/fieldtofield

Together, we can make a global impact through the power of sports. LSPD has a donation collection bin for equipment only at the police department, located at 1825 South Lake Stevens Road. Monetary donations can be done on Ujenzi Foundation website. Thank you in advance for your support!
