The heat continues this week as high temperatures approach 110°F in desert valleys and in the Colorado River Valley. In addition to hot afternoon temperatures, morning lows the next few days may remain in the 80s and 90s at lower elevations. Take precautions to stay cool during peak heating of the day and make sure to stay hydrated!

Another extended stretch of hot temperatures continues this week as highs will be running 5-10 degrees above normal for Mid-August. Around Las Vegas expect a high around 108° while the Colorado River Valley and Death Valley exceed 110° once again. Cooler temperatures likely in higher elevations.

Temperatures will increase this week, peaking on Wednesday & Thursday. Afternoon highs will be 4 to 6 degrees above-normal, while overnight lows will approach daily records. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for far southeastern California, southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona Tuesday through Friday.

Major Flooding in Lincoln County
FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY: Please call 775-962-3813 as phones are down.

US 93: There is rushing water across the highway at the Lincoln/Clark County line. Please use extreme caution when traveling through this area.

Caliente: Flooding is occurring in the north part of town near the storage units.

SR 317: The road is closed at the railroad tracks due to flooding. The closure extends from the dump to the other side of the railroad bridge.
UPDATE:all of SR 317 is now closed

Beaver Dam Estates: The area is currently inaccessible from Carrigan Road due to rushing water flowing across the roadway.

US 93MM 107: according to Nevada 511 there is also water over the roadway just south of the Y gas station

PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU ARE TRAVELING IN THIS WEATHER. Flooding can develop very quickly and conditions can change without warning.

Please do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways. Turn around and find an alternate route when possible.
