Interested in learning more about how the criminal justice system works in Gwinnett County? Apply for the 2026 Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office Citizens Academy.

Participants will gain an inside look at the criminal justice system and the work of the District Attorney’s Office through engaging sessions and firsthand learning opportunities.

Apply by 11:59 p.m. Aug. 21.

Seven guilty pleas. More than 60 years in prison.

Seven defendants pled guilty to violating Georgia’s RICO Act and multiple charges stemming from a series of vehicle entries and thefts. One defendant also pled guilty to aggravated assault in connection with gunfire during one of the thefts.

Combined, the defendants will serve more than 60 years in prison.

The Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to holding organized criminal activity accountable and protecting the safety of our community.

Gwinnett County News recently featured the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office Junior District Attorney/Investigator Mentorship Program, highlighting how the program gives local high school students an inside look at careers in law, criminal justice and public service.

Through hands-on experiences and direct interaction with prosecutors, investigators and other justice professionals, participants gain knowledge, confidence and skills they can carry into the future.

School is back in session in Gwinnett County!

As thousands of students return to the classroom, many will be walking to bus stops or waiting along our roads each morning and afternoon.

Please help keep our children safe by slowing down, staying alert and watching carefully for students near school buses, crosswalks and neighborhoods. Eliminate distractions, obey school bus stop laws and give yourself extra time during your commute.

A few extra moments of caution can make all the difference. Let's work together to ensure every student arrives at school and home safely.

Community safety starts with strong communities.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson applauds Rainbow Village Inc. for breaking ground on new apartments that will double the number of families experiencing homelessness the nonprofit can serve.

Under the leadership of CEO Melonie Connors, Rainbow Village continues to provide families with more than housing—it offers hope, stability, and a pathway to lasting independence.

"The work of Rainbow Village aligns with Gwinnett’s shared mission of building safer, stronger communities where every Gwinnett resident has the opportunity to thrive," District Attorney Austin-Gatson said. "When families have stability, our entire community benefits."

This interactive program gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at the work of prosecutors and the criminal justice system while strengthening community partnerships.

Join us Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Gwinnett High School for a day of family fun, community resources, and a FREE bookbag and school supply giveaway to help students start the new school year ready to succeed.

Bookbags and school supplies will be distributed while supplies last.
