We've been staying busy!

On August 28th, at 2353hrs, Lee Fire was paged to respond for a building fire on the Ridge Rd. Dispatch updated that the caller was unsure if the fire was extinguished or not.

Ambulance 709 was already on a medical call at the time of the page. Lee 701, 702, and 708 responded to the scene to find the fire already extinguished. Crew remained on scene for a period of time ensuring their was no extension into the walls or roof of the house. 709 also responded after clearing the first call. Cause of the fire was a birds nest that was on top of an outside light fixture. The homeowner was quick to act and saved the house from severe damage.

Last week we responded to 17 calls for service, with 3 of those times that an ambulance was on already on a call and a 2nd crew had to respond.

One of those occasions being Friday, August 28th -
At 0852hrs we responded to a medical call that required 3 crew members, along with a paramedic intercept from one of our providers.
At 0910hrs we were paged to respond to a 2nd call in Mattawamkeag. An EMT was responding to cover the station, but due to the location of the incident, Medway Rescue was closer and covered the call for us.
At 1001hrs, Lee 709 was returning from the first call and responded to a 3rd call in Molunkus.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mr. Mitch Bickford, a beloved community pastor, friend, and father to one of our Lee Fire Rescue members.

Mitch served as a pastor at Lee Baptist Church and was a cherished part of our community. His kindness, faith, friendship, and dedication to others touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.

During this difficult time, we ask our Lee Fire Rescue family and the entire community to please keep Mitch’s wife, Brenda, their family, and all those who loved him in your thoughts and prayers.

May they find comfort and strength in the love and support of family, friends, and the community during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Mitch. You will be greatly missed. 🕊️

Friday, August 21st at 08:34 hrs, Lee Rescue and Medway Fire Department were requested to respond to the area of the 700 block of Medway Road in Molunkus for a reported motorcycle crash with minor injuries.

Medway Fire arrived on scene to find the motorcycle well into the woods with severe damage. Lee Rescue transported the single rider to a local hospital in serious condition, where they were later Lifeflighted to another hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Aroostook County Sheriffs Office also responded to the scene.

For those who don't know, Jordyn was involved in a bad ATV accident & has been in the hospital, away from home for some time now but she's coming home today!!!

Lets welcome her home :)

I am in contact with her Mom as they make their journey home.

The fire department is going to have a couple apparatus at the Lincoln/Lee town line waiting to give her an es**rt home 🥰

If you would like to join in this es**rt, get in line OR park aside the road on rt 6 or Arab rd, to wave, honk or even make her a sign :) That would be perfect!!! ♥️

Recently our crew members have responded to some emergency calls and received these notes in return. It's our pleasure to respond in the time of need.

From Lifeflight Of Maine -

"On July 7th one of our crews responded with your department for a scene call. Following the transport the crew reached out and asked that I share the following with you.
'We want to give a big shout out to Lee Fire Rescue. Lee EMS did an excellent job in their management of this patient. Great working with them.'
Thanks for the great collaboration on this patient transport. We appreciate all that you do."

From another emergency call -

" Your ambulance was summoned to my house. My wife thought she was having heart issues. When your crew arrived you were very efficient. The crew was very professional, courteous, calm. My wife and I are very pleased with the care you gave her. We just wanted to thank you for all you did. My wife is home and doing much better now. Thanks again"

Thursday, July 16th at 10:30hrs, we received a direct call about a ditch fire on Lee Road in the area of the Lee/Lincoln town line. Lincoln Fire Department had already been paged to respond to their side of the town line for a wildland fire. Tanker 701 was the first fire unit to arrive on scene to a working wildland fire that was visualized as a half mile along the roadway.

Both departments worked on scene for 2 hours. The Lee side of the fire was extinguished quickly, and crews shifted to assist Lincoln where the bulk of the fire was. 701, 702, 703, and 716 responded with a crew of 11. Lee, Lincoln, and Howland Fire Departments responded to the scene along with the Maine Forest Service and Lincoln Police. An additional 3 Lee members provided fire/EMS coverage at the station while 2 more members were on a detail with one of our ambulances. Springfield Fire also responded and assisted with coverage in Lee with a tanker.

The Maine Forest Service is investigating the cause of the fire. Initial reports from Bystanders were that a truck driving through the area dropped sparks which ignited the fire.

**Smoke in town**

We're receiving multiple direct calls about smoke in the area. Please be aware that the national weather service has advised that strong winds from storms in the northwest have pushed Canadian wildfire smoke into Maine. We can smell the smoke at the station.

As always, if the smell of smoke is strong in your area or you can see smoke, call 911.
