CHC units, Leipsic Vol. Fire Company and the Kent County Water Rescue Team have just cleared multiple calls for vehicles stranded in floodwaters along the Route 9 and Route 6 corridor. Although our area never received the fully predicted weather conditions, we remind motorists to utilize caution when driving along tidal roadways and to obey barricades and warning signs.

Tragedy has struck Delaware waterways twice in the last 48 hours. Swimming, fishing, kayaking, and other leisurely activities involving the water in the summertime is predominant throughout the state, however, we encourage those who are not familiar with certain waterways, and specifically tidal waters, to never enter them and those who may not be strong swimmers to always wear a life jacket / PFD. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by these two tragic situations.

Four team members recently traveled north up into New England to participate in Water Training Resources' Swift Water Boat Operator course. This was a new area and body of water for us, which allows team members to keep their skills fresh. As water rescue professionals, we must always be ready to perform in any environment.
