🌧️ HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED TUESDAY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT

Another round of widespread rain and thunderstorms is expected across Iowa Tuesday into Tuesday night.

📍 Central & Southern Iowa:

* Rainfall totals of 1–2 inches are possible.
* Localized totals around 3 inches may occur.
* With soils already saturated from last week’s rainfall, flash flooding and ponding are possible, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

🌊 Flooding Concerns:
Elevated river levels may fall more slowly, but rivers are currently expected to remain within their banks.

⚠️ Highest Local Risk:
Scattered flash flooding is possible, along with:

* Flash flooding
* Urban/street flooding
* Local river and stream rises

🚗 If you encounter flooding: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! Never drive through a flooded roadway. It can be difficult to determine how deep the water is or whether the road underneath has been washed out.

Stay weather aware Tuesday and Tuesday night, especially if you live in central or southern Iowa.

Emergencies don’t always give us much warning. Severe storms, flooding, winter weather, fires, and power outages can happen when we least expect them. Having an Emergency Kit ready ahead of time can make a BIG difference for you and your family. 🎒⚡🌪️

A good emergency kit should include:

💧 Water — at least a 3-day supply
🥫 Non-perishable food
🔦 Flashlight & extra batteries
🩹 First aid supplies
📻 Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
💊 Prescription medications
📄 Copies of important documents
💵 Cash in small bills
🔋 Phone chargers & power banks
🧥 Extra clothing & blankets
🧼 Personal hygiene items

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Don’t stop with the supplies! Talk with your family about what you would do during an emergency, where you would meet, and how you would communicate if you became separated.

And remember—an emergency kit isn’t “build it and forget it.” Check it a couple of times each year and replace expired food, medications, batteries, and other supplies.

You may never need it…but if the day comes that you do, you’ll be glad it’s there.

⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WATCH — DECATUR COUNTY

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.

🌧️ What: Flash flooding remains possible due to excessive rainfall.

📍 Where: Decatur County and surrounding portions of south-central and southwest Iowa.

⏰ When: Through Saturday morning.

🌊 What to Expect

* Several rounds of rain have already occurred this week, with more rain expected tonight through Saturday morning.
* Repeated storms over the same areas could lead to rapidly accumulating rainfall.
* Rainfall rates could reach 1–2 inches per hour.
* Excessive runoff may cause flooding of creeks, streams, rivers, low-lying areas, poor-drainage areas and urban locations.
* Creeks and streams may rise quickly and potentially overflow their banks.

🚨 BE PREPARED

Monitor the latest forecasts and be ready to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.

Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Stay weather aware through Saturday morning and keep an eye on changing conditions.

IN IOWA THIS CANCELS 6 COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL IOWA

ADAIR ADAMS CASS

IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA
AUDUBON GUTHRIE

THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ADAIR, ATLANTIC, AUDUBON, BAYARD,
CASEY, CORNING, CRESTON, EXIRA, FONTANELLE, GREENFIELD,
GUTHRIE CENTER, PANORA, AND STUART.

Some cities also have required pet licensing, please check with your city hall to verify if yours is one! (Leon and Lamoni DO)
