Due to continued high turbidity levels the City of Libbyโ€™s boil advisory will continue for at least another 10 days. Two cases of bottled water per family continue to be available through the Red Cross distribution center located at the Memorial Center side garage, 111 East Lincoln Boulevard. Hours of distribution are Tuesday December 23, 8am to 4pm, Wednesday December 24th 10-2pm, Thursday 12/25 10-2pm and Friday 12/26 10-2. There is currently a limited supply of bulk water available at the same location, bring your own containers. Efforts are underway to secure a continued source of bulk water. We realize the stress this is causing our residents and businesses. The City of Libby appreciates your patience during this unprecedented event.

The City of Libby continues to work closely with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to ensure the communityโ€™s drinking water remains safe and reliable.
Libby operates under Montana Public Water System ID Permit MT0000274, which requires testing for heavy metals every nine years. The City is fully compliant with this requirement, and results from the two previous testing cycles show that Libbyโ€™s water met all state and federal safety standards.
As part of ongoing compliance and efforts to lift the current boil water order, City employees hand delivered water samples to ME Labs in Kalispell on December 15 and 16, 2025, following DEQ requirements. After confirming with both ME Labs and DEQ, the City was informed that heavy metals testing cannot be completed in less than 48 hours. Results from these samples are expected late Thursday evening or the morning of Friday, December 19, which is the earliest possible timeframe.
This testing was initiated in coordination with DEQ out of an abundance of caution to confirm that Libby continues to deliver safe and dependable water to its residents.
