Re-Fresh Re-Start support for the women of Fresh Start Home

Mission Monday: Last week after dinner one evening, several of our residents joined Art Group. We began making greeting card sets that will be available during October's Project Funway silent auction (links coming in a few weeks! Anyone can bid online!) The women were very creative, excited to support Fresh Start with their talents, and so absorbed in their makery at times that you could've heard a pin drop. It was a special treat to see everyone work in the creative flow. Are you passionate about a topic and want to share more with our residents? 🛏️ RE-FRESH, RE-START 🛏️
It's National Nonprofit Day — and we're not celebrating with cake, we're celebrating with... beds. 24 women in our care are sleeping on mattresses and bedding that have seen better days. Today through Giving Tuesday, help us fix that.

A fresh start begins with a good night's sleep, one of the first steps toward rebuilding a life. Can you help?

Two of our board members were also nominated for Inspire Lincoln awards, and we are so grateful for their involvement with Fresh Start! "A strong woman stands up for herself. The impatiens by our door started white, then last week's rain turned them a surprise pale pink. A gentle reminder: growth doesn't announce itself. Keep watching closely, and you might just catch yourself blooming into someone new! With impatience, so little is possible. With patience, almost anything is. We are so lucky to see all KINDS of growth here at Fresh Start.

Last week we told you about a couple who started a Random Acts of Kindness nonprofit — and blessed Fresh Start with piles of donated items for our residents!

Today's story starts even smaller: about a year ago, an employee's daughter left a grocery store and spotted a couple of homeless women in the parking lot. Without hesitation, this teen told them all about Fresh Start and the services we offer women experiencing homelessness.

It took a few months and a few plot twists, but we are THRILLED to share that one of those women found her way to Fresh Start, received support to rebuild her life... and just a couple weeks ago, moved into her VERY. OWN. APARTMENT! 🎉

One ripple of kindness at a time — each of us can change a life. 💙

A very kind, grieving gentleman recently dropped off the first batch of clothing from his late wife. He wanted her things to have a Fresh Start — and he knew she would have loved knowing her clothes, coats, and purses would help other women find one too.

We're humbled he trusted us to steward her gifts. Some legacies truly endure — the kind that make you swallow the lump in your throat and hug the person closest to you just a little tighter.
