The Hunters Point Parks Conservancy’s mission is to enhance and advocate for the green spaces and waterfront of Long Island City, Queens, and to ensure the parks remain an indispensable asset to the community. GOALS
· Assist the management and staff of Gantry Plaza State Park, Hunters Point South Park and other parks and green spaces in hunters point in the maintenance and upkeep of the par

ks and street trees in the neighborhood.
· Organize and support special events and activities in the parks.
· Enhance artistic, play and recreational opportunities in the area.
· Monitor potential problems, inform authorities and advocate for and assist with solutions.
· Educate the community about the environmental concerns of the waterfront in Hunters Point in order to preserve and enhance the parks, neighborhood, and waterways.
· Encourage the improvement and expansion of publicly accessible green and open space in Hunters Point.

Since taking office in 2023, she has been a dedicated supporter of parks and environmental issues in our community and throughout NY state. Join us for Astronomy on the Waterfront on September 10th from 7-9PM at the overlook in Hunter's Point South Park!

After receiving a grant from the Asterion Foundation, we were able to purchase two new telescopes! We will be set up on the overlook for two hours, pointing to different objects in the night sky.

Green infrastructure like bioswales and marshes help absorb heavy rains, reducing sewage overflow events and flooding! They take a lot of work to maintain, though, and HPPC is out twice a week working to support our parks plants to help them help our neighborhood. You can join us at our weekly gardening events, or make a donation to support our work - links in our bio!

Monarchs fly back to Mexico from NYC every September. Before their big flight, they need a lot of food to sustain them. Milkweed is the only plant that monarchs will lay eggs on and also is one of their main food sources. Other food sources include goldenrod, aster, ironweed, and more. Pictured, you can see some monarchs hanging out in milkweed patches in the park!

The summer is coming to an end, but our parks still need a lot of support. We host weekly community gardening groups on Thursdays and Saturdays through the end of October, followed by our annual Bulb Fest. You can sign up in the link in bio to join us! All ages welcome and no experience necessary.

We also bring out corporate groups for team building volunteer days where you can make an impact on our community. It’s a fun way to get outside, give back to New York City, and bond with your colleagues.
