On Saturday, August 15, 2026, members and supporters of Hemlock Farms Vol. Fire and Rescue Co. will take part in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Pike County, PA.

"Since 9/11, we have been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. We are also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001." - Tunnel to Towers

Your Monday nights just got a whole lot more exciting!

Instead of spending another evening scrolling through your phone or sitting at home, come spend it with us at the firehouse. Meet new people, learn valuable hands-on skills, and discover what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself.

No, we're not asking you to run into burning buildings. (That takes specialized training—and if firefighting interests you, we'll help guide you through the certification process.) What we are asking is simple: give us a little of your time, and we'll teach you practical skills that can make a real difference in your community.

Tonight's training focuses on Engine Company Operations, and we'd love to have you join us.

You never know—you might leave with new skills, new friends, and the sense of purpose and camaraderie you've been looking for.

Training starts at 6:30 p.m. with apparatus checks, followed by lessons/evolutions at 7:00 p.m. See you at the firehouse!

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for our neighbors in Wayne County and surrounding areas until 8:45 p.m. We are monitoring the storm.

A line of severe thunderstorms is moving through that area with the potential for:

⚡ Continuous cloud-to-ground lightning
💨 Wind gusts up to 60 mph
🧊 Hail up to one inch in size
🌧️ Heavy rainfall that may lead to localized flooding
🌳 Downed trees and tree limbs
🔌 Downed power lines and power outages

During severe thunderstorms, for your safety:
✅ Move indoors immediately and stay away from windows.
✅ Seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
✅ Stay away from downed trees and power lines. Assume all power lines are energized and dangerous.
✅ Do not drive through flooded roadways.
✅ If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Hemlock Farms Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company is monitoring conditions and stands ready to respond as needed.

On behalf of the Hemlock Farms Volunteer Fire and Rescue Chaplains, I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all those who assisted in making the service so meaningful. The Hemlock Farms Community Association (HFCA) staff and support groups went above and beyond in the planning and presenting, dealing with inclement weather, switching venues, and set up.

I would further like to extend my thanks to all those who participated, the Knights of Columbus and Cub Scout Pack 007. The two of you added so much dignity, and the involvement of our younger people added strength of purpose for those who attended. I would also like to add an extra gesture of appreciation to our keynote speaker, Commander Harry Waidelich, USN, Retired, for his words, suggesting to us that we channel our remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice as a day of celebration of their dedication and commitment, not as a day of sadness. As always, Pat Olhman and Linda Snow’s stewardship of the Deanery Choir elevated our service, and we are blessed in our community to have them. Thank you to our community leaders for your presence as well.

Lastly, I would like to thank the residents of Hemlock Farms who came out on a very challenging weather day to not only make the service so meaningful but also one of the highest attended Memorial Day services of recent memory.

Memorial Day, unlike other national holidays such as Presidents Day, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, or Independence Day, reminds us of the values of the ultimate sacrifice. It reminds us that it is incumbent upon us to recognize those who sacrificed themselves for those freedoms. May the Lord continue to bless our community and our country.

On Monday, April 20, 2026, Captain James “Jim” Mason was laid to rest. We at Station 29 would like to extend our deepest thanks to Station 25 Blooming Grove for providing coverage during the service as well as traffic control, Station 26 Dingmans for the draping of the flag on their ladder truck, Hemlock Farms Public Safety for assisting with traffic control and acting as the lead vehicle in the funeral procession through the community to pass by James Mason’s home and the fire station, Pennsylvania State Police for assisting with traffic control during the funeral procession, Milford Police for assisting with traffic control, and the Station 29 Auxiliary for all their work on setting up and cooking for the repast.

Please keep the family in your prayers as they grieve.

Would like to extend congratulations to our very own Junior Firefighter Ezra DeFoor on completing his Live Burn session with the Emergency Service Program at Wallenpaupack High School. This is one step in his journey to getting his interior firefighter certification once he turns 18. Keep working hard, Ezra! Your HFVF&R Co. Family is right behind you!

It is with great sorrow, that we are announcing the unfortunate passing of Captain Jim Mason. He was dedicated to our department for over 15 years. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
