Sukkot is here! 🌿🍋✨

For seven days, Jews in Israel and around the world celebrate by spending time in a sukkah - a temporary outdoor structure that reminds us of the Israelites’ journey through the desert after leaving Egypt.

We eat there, welcome guests, spend time with family and friends, and celebrate together. 💙

This , we are launching our weekly author spotlight series! Since 2026 theme is “Unidos, somos más” (Together, we are more)— a powerful reminder that our communities are at their strongest when we celebrate the rich tapestry of our intersecting histories.

Today, we are celebrating Latin American Jewish voices who beautifully bridge worlds.

🇦🇷 Alberto Gerchunoff: Known as the father of Jewish-Argentine literature, his 1910 masterpiece The Jewish Gauchos of the Pampas explores how Jewish refugees found a home—and a cowboy identity—in rural Argentina.

🇲🇽 Margo Glantz: A towering figure in Mexican letters, her memoir The Family Tree (Las genealogías) gracefully pieces together her parents’ migration from Ukraine to Mexico City, blending Jewish history with a deep love for Mexican heritage.

Literature shows us that we don’t have to choose one identity over another. Together, these cultures enrich each other.

An important step forward! 🇮🇱🇺🇸📚
Earlier this week, we were proud to join the Hebrew University of Jerusalem President Tamir Sheafer and UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk for the signing of two MOUs between their institutions.

The agreements reflect both institutions’ shared commitment to educating the next generation of leaders and scientists by establishing a framework for biomedical research collaboration between their medical schools and advancing cooperation and knowledge exchange in Israel Studies.

We applaud Chancellor Frenk for taking this significant step forward in recognizing Israel’s academic excellence and strengthening UCLA’s partnership with Israeli faculty, students and scholars.

We look forward to seeing these impactful collaborations grow!

With a distinguished diplomatic career spanning high-level posts around the globe — including serving as Ambassador to Peru and the Netherlands, and as senior political advisor to the late President Shimon Peres —Ambassador Ephraim brings a wealth of experience to the region. From laying the groundwork for historic trade agreements to authoring “The Flight of the Condor,” his lifelong dedication to public service is truly inspiring.

Outside of his diplomatic work, he is an avid basketball fan and a proud grandfather.

We look forward to his leadership in strengthening ties across the Pacific Southwest!

Once a year, Israel comes to a near standstill. The roads empty. Businesses close. The noise of everyday life fades.

From the streets of Tel Aviv to Jerusalem’s Old City, a unique quiet settles across the country.

A day to pause, look inward and start anew.

Deputy Consul General, Yulia Rachinsky, was honored to attend the Iranian American Jewish Federation Annual Gala and to address the crowd.

In her remarks she recognized the unique role the Iranian Jewish community of Los Angeles plays in fighting anti-Zionism and hatred against Jews and thanked IAJF for their support.

You are invited to the annual Israel EduExpo fairs, two special events connecting students and families with Israel’s leading universities and colleges and local organizations. The fairs will be held in Los Angeles on October 14th and October 15th from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Meet representatives from top Israeli universities and academic institutions to learn about the educational experience, scholarships, and admission requirements and hear success stories from local alumni.

You will also have the opportunity to explore gap-year, internship, volunteer and student leadership programs with both local and Israeli organizations.
