LASHP is a 32-acre California State Park within the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles that offers views of downtown and creative and innovative public events. Los Angeles State Historic Park provides an extraordinary opportunity for recreation and education in the heart of Los Angeles. Within its 32 acres of open space directly adjacent to Chinatown, park visitors can wander pathways and enjoy a view of downtown, as well as discover and celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of Los Angeles. Thanks to everyone who joined us for activities during Biodiversity week! 🌱🐻🦎🍄 From trimming and watering pollinator gardens to drawing our favorite California plants and animals at the farmer’s market and Art in the Park, we embraced the incredible wide array of organisms that inhabit our various ecosystems.

Hosted by our amazing park volunteer Xochitl, join us in celebrating Biodiversity Week for our bi weekly Art in The Park program.

Happening from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Los Angeles State Historic Park Welcome pavilion stop by the park and create a painting!

Free and open to all ages and skill levels, No need to bring supplies, Art in The Park has free canvas, paintbrushes, and paints for all participating guest.

Come celebrate Biodiversity Week with us at State Parks! 🦊🌵 Starting Wednesday September 9th, we will kick off the day at Rio de Los Angeles State Park for a volunteer workday, cultivating habitats that support dozens of plant species and is even home to the Least Bell’s Vireo, an endangered migratory songbird. 🐦🎶 Then at LA State Historic Park in the afternoon, we will have a special edition of our free Art in the Park program with Xochitl! Join us for a relaxed painting session and recreate one of the plants and animals that make California so biodiverse. 🦎🐿️

On Thursday September 10th, we will host folks at the LA River Farmers’ Market (LA River Farmers’ Market at LA State Historic Park) at LASHP for more coloring activities alongside a Biodiverse Photo Booth with your favorite endemic California plants and animals! 🌻🐢

Fun fact from 30x30 CA: Did you know that over 30% of all plant & vertebrate species in the United States can be found in California?

¡Ven a celebrar la Semana de la Biodiversidad con nosotros en los Parques Estatales! 🦊🌵 Comenzaremos el miércoles 9 de septiembre en el Parque Estatal Rio de Los Angeles con un evento de voluntarios para cultivar hábitats que sustentan a docenas de especies vegetales y que sirven de hogar al Least Bell’s Vireo, un ave canora migratoria en peligro de extinción. 🐦🎶 Luego, por la tarde, en el Parque Histórico Estatal de Los Ángeles (LASHP), ofreceremos una edición especial de nuestro programa gratuito "Arte en el Parque" con Xochitl. ¡Acompáñanos en una sesión relajada de pintura y recrea alguna de las plantas y animales que hacen de California un lugar con tanta biodiversidad!

Thank you to all those who attended our end of year Art in the Park Gallery with Xochitl Manzanilla!! It’s been an honor to have you paint with us here at the park, sharing your time, talents, and wonderful energy. And a big thank you to our long-term volunteer, Xochitl, for her hard work and dedication over the years to this park and to this program making it blossom beautifully just like the flowers on her paintings! Next Art in the Park session will be TOMORROW from 3-5pm. Come escape the heat and paint with us in the Welcome Center!

¡Gracias a todos los que asistieron a nuestra galería de fin de año de "Arte en el Parque con Xochitl”! Ha sido un honor que pintaran con nosotros aquí en el parque, compartiendo su tiempo, sus talentos y su maravillosa energía. Shout out to Forward Movement! They distribute over 150,000 pounds of produce every year all over Los Angeles! LASHP has been one of APIFM’s distribution sites since 2019, handing out around 15,000 lbs of produce a year to nearby residents. We’re so grateful to partner with such amazing partners like Forward Movement to help feed the community, one bag at a time. To learn more about LASHP programs and events, email [email protected].

We are excited to announce, through a collaboration with Parks California we will be bringing back Wellness Yoga Wednesdays with ActiveSGV! Join us for the free class from 5 to 6 pm every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Please bring your own yoga mat and some water. Class will be located on the grassy area under the Promenade trees and just north of the Welcome Center. Hope to see you there! 🧘🏽‍♀️🌳✨

This Thursday at the LA River Farmers’ Market at LA State Historic Park! Los Angeles Astronomical Society will be bringing their special solar telescopes on the South portion of the lawn adjacent to the farmer's market. Come by for safe solar viewings from 5 to 7pm and stop through the market for fresh produce and yummy foods! 🥰🍓🎶

Este jueves en el LA River Farmers’ Market at LA State Historic Park! Los Angeles Astronomical Society van a traer sus telescopios solares en la zona sur del césped, junto al mercado de granjeros. ¡Ven a observar el sol de forma segura de 5 a 7 p. m. y aprovecha para comprar productos frescos y comida deliciosa en el mercado! 🥰🍓🎶
