The Vincent Thomas Bridge is closing in November and will remain closed until March 2028 as crews work to replace the bridge deck.

This will have a big impact on traffic and travel in the area, so Caltrans is hosing community meetings over the next couple weeks to discuss the construction schedule and traffic management plan.

Today—on the International Day of Sign Languages, of all days—I happened to learn some sign language on my bus ride.

Anna is deaf, and her husband Enrique helped translate for us. They taught me how to sign “friend” and “I love you.”
