Thank you to the ACLU for exposing the truth about Trump’s ICE raids. The claim that they targeted dangerous criminals was always a sham—and ICE agents’ own texts prove it.

These raids have been the most sickening abuse of government power in my lifetime. We are a long way away from accountability—but the ACLU’s work has helped bring the truth to light.

Our LACoFD Lifeguard Division do incredible work saving lives everyday— and last night I joined as we recognized three of these heroes for jumping into action while they were off-duty at the Lifeguard Medal of Valor Awards Ceremony.

Ocean Lifeguard Specialists Hogan Inscore and Sam O’Hare were at a wedding ceremony in San Pedro when a balcony collapsed, and they provided medical aid to four people in critical condition.

And Section Chief Olivier O’Connell saw a fire in Long Beach and entered the burning home without PPE and assisted an elderly woman and a sleeping teenager to safety.

These heroes represent the very best of what it means to wear the LA County Lifeguard uniform, and I am so grateful for their courage. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor.

Bill Brand had a vision. He wanted to transform the land along Herondo Street from PCH to the coast into open space for all to enjoy.

He began working on a plan to make that happen with now-Mayor Jim Light back in 2010— and today we celebrated the ribbon-cutting on the first phase of Bill Brand Gateway Park.

It’s been two years since we lost Bill, but his legacy lives on.

We had quite the discussion at our Metro meeting today! But one thing was clear— there is widespread support for adding a transit rider as a voting member of our Metro board.

No one knows our system better. They see day in and day out what’s working and what’s not.

The Metro board needs a Metro rider— and after today’s vote, we’ll make sure it has one.

The Metro board needs a Metro rider, and the board meeting on July 23 is your chance to share your support.

We need an independent rider as a voting member who can tell us what's working on our system and what's not— and 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝟱𝟲 on the July 23 agenda will make sure that happens, and that the person in this seat is fully equipped with everything they need to have a real voice from Day 1.

Today we had the opportunity to honor & thank the LA County heroes—firefighters, doctors, structural engineers—who responded to the devastating earthquake in Venezuela last month.

Our Urban Search & Rescue Task Force was one of only four such teams that the U.S. sent to respond.

This team worked with rescuers from around the world and saved lives, including a man who had been trapped for more than week.

They showed the world the immense heart, humanity, and solidarity of LA County, and they represent the very best that our nation has to offer.

Since I started riding Metro more, I’ve experienced overcrowding, cleanliness issues, and my bus breaking down and making me late to a Metro board meeting— and yet I know that I still don’t have the full experience of someone who is riding our system on a daily basis.

We need a rider as a voting member on our board who can share their perspective and make our system better for the people who rely on it day in and day out.

I’ve made it a priority to ride Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority more— but I know I don’t have the same experience as people who rely on our system everyday.

That’s why I’m bringing a proposal next week for Metro to add a seat for a rider to the board.
