🇮🇹 Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Italian Republic at one of the world’s most iconic venues: the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
An unforgettable evening brought together the Italian and Italian-American communities, institutional leaders, members of the consular corps, business executives, academics, artists, athletes, and friends of Italy from across Southern California.
This year’s celebration also marked the Third Italian Sport Day in the World in Los Angeles, highlighting the unique role of sport as a powerful tool for public diplomacy, cultural exchange, and international cooperation.
We were honored to welcome Olympic Champion Francesca Lollobrigida, whose extraordinary success at Milano Cortina 2026 symbolizes Italy’s sporting excellence and the road toward LA28. We were equally privileged to host Niccolò Campriani, Senior Vice President of Sports for LA28 and Olympic gold medalist, whose remarks underscored the strong connection between Italy and the future Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
A particularly meaningful moment of the evening was the lighting of the Olympic torch. Together, Consul General Raffaella Valentini and Olympic Champion Francesca Lollobrigida lit the torch, symbolizing the handover from Milano Cortina 2026 to Los Angeles 2028 and celebrating the shared values of excellence, resilience, friendship, and community that unite Italy and the United States. 🔥🏅
The evening concluded with a spectacular performance by the USC Trojan Marching Band, adding energy, tradition, and ceremony to this historic celebration.
As Italy celebrates 80 years of Republic and the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of its independence, we proudly reaffirm the enduring friendship between our nations and the vital contribution of the Italian and Italian-American community to the cultural, economic, and social fabric of Southern California.
Viva la Repubblica Italiana! 🇮🇹
