The Coalition for the Homeless' mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Louisville. Our 30+ member agencies provide housing, food, clothing, healthcare, and legal services to people experiencing homelessness—from veterans living on the streets to families living out of their cars. Our job is to fight for people experiencing homelessness and for housing justice by implementing both immediate

and long-term solutions. We do this work by advocating for change, educating the public, and collaborating with our partners.

We are thrilled to announce that the Kentucky House just unanimously passed HB 338 with a vote of 95-0!! It now goes on to the Senate. Please take two minutes to leave a message for your state senator at 1-800-372-7181 asking them to vote YES on HB 338, the eviction expungement bill.

Right now, 45% of Kentucky's 40,000 eviction filings are dismissed, but the record stays public forever. This keeps working families from getting housing, even when they can afford it. HB 338 gives Kentuckians a fresh start by sealing dismissed cases and protecting minors.

We're thrilled that this bill is making progress and need your support to bring it across the finish line!

Thrilled to spend the morning at House of Ruth for the ribbon cutting at Red Key Landing, a 40-unit supportive housing project for aging Louisvillians with HIV who are facing homelessness!

These homes were largely funded with $6.5 million in American Rescue Plan dollars dedicated by Metro Council in 2021—money that we all advocated for together. Amazing to see this project come into fruition and to hear from people whose lives have changed through this program!

Learn more at https://houseofruth.net/red-key-landing. Thank you for advocating for this with us. Please continue to fight for more funding for supportive and affordable housing at all levels!

The federal government has made significant changes to its HUD funding competition, creating uncertainty for Louisville's successful permanent housing programs.

President Donald Trump's administration is capping funding for long-term housing programs, a move that worries homeless service providers.

According to an article published on Monday evening, dramatic cuts to permanent housing are coming on the federal level.

Contact your member of Congress now (https://www.congress.gov/members) and let them know that permanent housing serves 1,800 Louisvillians—families with children, the elderly, and people with disabilities—who could lose their homes with these changes. Ask them to demand that HUD maintain funding for cost-efficient, flexible, and effective permanent housing programs and to give local communities the freedom to fund housing programs that we know are working.

We cannot afford an increase homelessness in Louisville today!
