🇺🇸 09/11/01 25 Years, We Never Forgot! 🇺🇸

Wednesday evening at 1849 hours (6:49 PM), the department was dispatched to the Kingsland Shops, located at 808 Page Avenue, on a general fire alarm activation. Upon the arrival of the first arriving Lyndhurst Police unit, a large contents fire was reported in Building # 5. With that, the fourth working structure fire in the township in less than two weeks was transmitted. A FAST from North Arlington Fire Dept. was requested to the scene, and the 2nd Alarm was transmitted for coverage immediately due to the size of the building coupled with the large scale event, the annual feast and concerts, taking place outside fire headquarters. Due to the contents of the fire being tightly packaged piles of cardboard material, an additional Engine Company was requested to assist with suppression efforts from North Arlington bringing in their Engine 1. East Rutherford Truck 1 and Secaucus Engine 1 provided township coverage from the Lyndhurst Middle School due its proximity to the scene and the challenges presented with the access to fire headquarters. The LPD UAS/Drone assets were deployed on the interior to assist with thermal imaging to guide suppression efforts and assist in conducting a large area search. The Bergen County Fan Unit responded with the Paramus Fire Deparrment, which greatly asisisted in ventilating this large commercial building. Additionally, County Wide Fire Rehab responded to asisist those working on scene in the heat, and a Lyndhurst Department of Public Works Bobcat was brought in to assist with extensive overhaul. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, and there were no injuries sustained to any employees or firefighters on scene.

This evening, while providing automatic aid for as they attended wake services for their brother, EX-Chief Bryan Schoch, Rescue 4 responded to the New Jersey Turnpike eastern extension on a brush fire. The crew assisted with fire suppression operations for several hours while operating on scene.

Last night, at 2257 hours, the department responded to a passenger vehicle fire in front of 1100 Valley Brook Avenue.

Yesterday morning, Rescue 4 participated in a mass casualty exercise hosted by the NJSEA Fire Department in conjunction with New Jersey Transit at MetLife Stadium. The exercise was held to better prepare for the upcoming FIFA soccer tournament being hosted this summer at the complex. Several local fire departments surrounding the complex participated in an effort to test interagency coordination.
