This evening, while providing automatic aid for as they attended wake services for their brother, EX-Chief Bryan Schoch, Rescue 4 responded to the New Jersey Turnpike eastern extension on a brush fire. The crew assisted with fire suppression operations for several hours while operating on scene.

Yesterday morning, Rescue 4 participated in a mass casualty exercise hosted by the NJSEA Fire Department in conjunction with New Jersey Transit at MetLife Stadium. The exercise was held to better prepare for the upcoming FIFA soccer tournament being hosted this summer at the complex. Several local fire departments surrounding the complex participated in an effort to test interagency coordination.

Impending Winter Storm & SOE Update

A State of Emergency has been issued as a result of the impending severe winter storm. Blizzard conditions and tidal flooding in our Meadowlands section of the township is possible.

The most intense portion of the storm will be Sunday evening into Monday overnight. Heavy winds may bring power outages. �� In the event of a widespread power outage, warning centers will be established and announced if necessary. Lyndhurst Township Office of Emergency Management will continue to update as necessary.

�Approximate ❄️ snow accumulation is between 6-12" with 13-20" possible if heavy banging sets up over our area.

��⚠️ Roads and the morning commute may be hazardous; especially Monday. All non-essential travel should be avoided.

🚨- Snow Emergency Roadways will be strictly enforced as of 9 AM Sunday. Vehicle owners not adhering to this ordinance will be subject to summonses and towing fees at their own expense. � �

🚨Snow Emergency No Parking will be strictly enforced as of 9 AM on Sunday, February 22, 2026. There is also NO Parking on Sparta Drive, the Library lots, and on School Property.

🏛️ ALL NON-ESSENTIAL TOWNSHIP OFFICES ARE CLOSED MONDAY, 02/23/26.

��Residents should gather all necessary items before the snow begins to fall, and always have working flashlights and charged cell phones in the event of a power outage.���A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.��Please keep the following Lyndhurst Township Ordinance regulations in mind:�� �⚠️ There is NO PARKING when Roads are Snow Covered on the following Lyndhurst Streets-Entire Length & Both sides unless otherwise noted. Lyndhurst Twp. 🛑 No shoveling/plowing/blowing of snow on to roadways.�Lyndhurst Twp. Ordinance # 13-5.8b�NJSA. 39:4-77.3 “Anti Snow Dumping Act”���Residents must shovel snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of a snow/ice storm. Lyndhurst Twp. Ordinance # 13-5.8a���Fire Hydrants abutting residences and businesses must be cleared of snow and ice by the property owner. Lyndhurst Twp. Ord. # 11-1.4a���

To report a power outage or find out information contact PSE&G: ‪1-800-436-7734.�Additionally, residents are reminded that in times of power loss not to use their ovens or any auxiliary heating unit which emits carbon monoxide. Such methods of auxiliary heating are also a serious fire hazard. Keep all generators in a well ventilated area. Do not utilize propane heaters indoors, and only use indoor space heaters with CAUTION.�

-Help your elderly neighbors / family members with snow and ice removal, and keep a check on them periodically.���-During freezing temperatures roadways will become icy, drive safely. If it is not completely necessary, avoid traveling on the roadways.���-When outside dress in layers to prevent cold weather related injuries.���-Bring animals indoors during storms & cold weather, if you are cold, so are they!

Yesterday, at 1638 hours, the department was dispatched to the 200 block of Lafayette Avenue on a 9-1-1 report of a runaway boiler. Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that the incident reported was not the circumstance, as a working kitchen fire on the second floor was discovered. North Arlington Fire Departnent was dispatched for a F.A.S.T. on the working fire assignment. The main body fire was quickly extinguished, and crews remained on scene chasing fire that was running up an interior wall into the walk up attic space. The fire was placed under control within an hour, and there were no injuries resulting from the incident. As a result, the residence was deemed uninhabitable, temporarily displacing the residents. The American Red Cross was requested to the scene by Lyndhurst OEM to assist the residents. The fire was investigated by the Lyndhurst Fire Offical, and was deemed unintentional and possibly resulting from faulty appliance components.

This evening, while handling an unrelated fire alarm, companies were dispatched to the 600 block of Third Avenue on a reported kitchen fire. Upon arrival, working fire was transmitted bringing in the North Arlington Fire Department for a F.A.S.T. A fire was located in a kitchen of the ground floor living space, and a heavy smoke condition was present throughout the the first and ground level of the two family residence. The main body of fire was quickly extinguished with a 1 3/4” line from Engine 1. Companies remained on scene for over an hour conducting overhaul and ventilation operations. The fire was investigated by the Lyndhurst Fire Official, and although not suspicious, remained undetermined after investigation. There were no injuries sustained by any resident or emergency personnel operating on scene.

2026 was literally rung in at 0012 hours by the department, on a reported residential structure fire with visible fire showing on the 400 block of Rutherford Avenue. This was downgraded to a large exterior contents fire abutting a detached garage. The fire was quickly extinguished, and required extensive overhaul.

This morning, a 9-1-1 call was received for an electrical fire in a residence on the 700 block of Fourth Street. Chief 32-00 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire assignment due to there being a heavy smoke condition inside the residence as reported by the first arriving police units. As a result, North Arlington Fire Department was dispatched for a F.A.S.T. First arriving companies were able to open up and knock down all visible fire that was running an interior wall from the basement. The fire was quickly placed under control and there were no injuries to report. The residence was unfortunately deemed uninhabitable by the Lyndhurst Building Department, temporarily displacing the residents. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature.
