Madawaska Police Department

Madawaska Police Department The Madawaska Police Department has ten (10) full-time and part-time officers. Our department covers an area of roughly 56 square miles.

Officers provide law enforcement services to a population of approximately 3,700 people on a 24-hour basis. Officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service requests throughout the community's residential and business districts. Officers also patrol hundreds of miles of urban and rural roads to proactively deter criminal activity and violations of law. Officers actively investigate all

crimes, and suspicious activity that may lead to a crime, within our community. Our agency works cooperatively with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) in efforts to address the continuing infiltration of illegal drugs. We also are working closely with School Administration. Our agency strives to keep school safety at the forefront of our efforts. All officers work within the community policing philosophy to keep our community safe and take appropriate enforcement action when violations of law occur. The personnel of the Madawaska Police Department, both sworn and civilian, are proud to be a part of one the finest police departments in Maine. Each and every one of our members play an integral part in the success of our department. Our most important goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Madawaska.

Earlier today, officers from the Madawaska Police Department proudly carried the Flame of Hope through town for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, benefiting Special Olympics Maine!

We were honored to have a Ranger from the Maine Forest Service lace up their sneakers and run alongside us this year. Protecting and serving goes hand-in-hand with supporting our incredible community, and this event is always a highlight for our department.

As we arrived in town, we were joined by our wonderful friends from St. John Valley Associates. They walked with us all the way to the finish line, bringing the absolute best energy, smiles, and team spirit to the final stretch. Thank you to everyone who cheered us on along the route.

After working up a massive appetite, our team was treated to a fantastic lunch courtesy of Ruby at Ruby's Red Cuisine! Thank you, Ruby, for fueling our officers and always being such a generous supporter of our department and community events!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that thanks to the immense generosity of our local businesses, we raised over $2,200 to support the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Maine! We truly live in a community that steps up when it matters most, and we cannot thank our local business sponsors enough for making this donation possible.

Together, we are helping to support inclusion, acceptance, and the amazing athletes of the Special Olympics!

The Madawaska Police Department extends our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of retired Officer Doug Bell.

To our brothers and sisters over at the Caribou Police Department, we stand with you in mourning the loss of a brother in blue. Even in retirement, an officer’s dedication and the impact they left on the community and their fellow officers is never forgotten. The bond within the law enforcement family remains unbroken.

Please keep Officer Bell’s family, friends, and the Caribou PD community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Doug. Your dedication to duty and years of service will always be remembered. 💙🖤
