New Hampshire Food Bank

New Hampshire Food Bank NH's only food bank since 1984; helping serve food insecure individuals throughout NH.

The mission of the New Hampshire Food Bank (NHFB) is to feed hungry people by soliciting and effectively distributing grocery products and perishable foods; to offer innovative programs through a statewide network of approved agencies; to advocate for systemic change; and to educate the public about the root causes and solutions to the problem of hunger in New Hampshire.

September's here and so is Hunger Action Month®! 🧡
During Hunger Action Month, Feeding America partner food banks, including the New Hampshire Food Bank, join communities across the country to raise awareness and take action in the fight against hunger. Throughout September, we're encouraging everyone to Go Orange, the official color of Hunger Action Month, and show their commitment to helping neighbors in need.

Hunger remains a serious challenge across the Granite State. 1 in 9 New Hampshire residents and 1 in 6 New Hampshire children face food insecurity, meaning they may not always know where their next meal will come from.

As New Hampshire's only food bank, the NH Food Bank and its programs work every day to address hunger and its root causes in communities across the state. We can end hunger when we all play our part. Whether you volunteer, donate, advocate, or simply help spread awareness, every action brings us one step closer to a hunger-free New Hampshire.

🌱🥕 Celebrating Culture, Community, and Fresh Food Through NH Feeding NH 🥬🌽

We're about halfway through our Culturally Preferred Produce season, and we're thrilled to see the impact this program is having on communities across New Hampshire.

Through our NH Feeding NH program, we're providing fresh, locally grown produce from Fresh Start Farms to partner agencies that serve large numbers of clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. From amaranth greens, garden egg (African eggplant), maize corn, pumpkin leaves, and roselle leaves to familiar favorites like tomatoes, carrots, peppers, and cilantro, these foods help families access ingredients that are meaningful to their traditions, cultures, and daily meals.

The smiles say it all! In today's photos, team members from Christ the King Food Pantry share some of this season's harvest, which has been a tremendous hit with their clients. We're also grateful to a youth program that partners with Fresh Start Farms for donating 57 lbs of beautiful squash, pictured with NHFB team members Harry Bates and Stacey Garron during a recent delivery.

The feedback from participants has been inspiring:
💚 "We feel so blessed to be receiving these vegetables."
💚 "This is so critical to my family of 7 and my baby on the way."
💚 "Thank you for sharing with us every week."
💚 "I share these vegetables with my sister who lives next door."
💚 "I haven't seen this type of vegetable in the supermarket, but I like it for a recipe of mine."

Programs like NH Feeding NH help strengthen local agriculture while ensuring that our neighbors have access to fresh, nutritious foods that reflect their cultures and preferences. Thank you to Fresh Start Farms, our participating agencies, and everyone helping make this program a success.

🎉🎂 Thank you & happy birthday to you, Granite State Credit Union - Nashua! 🎂🎉

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of their Nashua branch, Granite State Credit Union gave back to the community in a fun and meaningful way by donating more than 50 birthday boxes to the NH Food Bank.

These special boxes help ensure children and families can celebrate life's important moments with cake, candles, and other birthday essentials. We are grateful for Granite State Credit Union's generosity and commitment to supporting our neighbors across New Hampshire.

Thank you for helping bring a little extra joy to local families and for making your milestone celebration one that gives back! 💚

👏 A big thank you to Levi, local high school student and co-founder (along with his dad, Rusty) of JustgoXplore, for turning his passion for community service into action!

Levi recently donated 107 pounds of food, the equivalent of 89 meals, collected from attendees at their recent Overland Outdoor Camping Expo, to help neighbors facing food insecurity across New Hampshire. 💙

Every donation, no matter the size, helps support individuals and families who rely on our network of partner agencies for nutritious food and hope. We're grateful for young leaders like Levi who are making a difference and inspiring others to give back.

Thank you, Levi and JustGoXplore, for helping us move closer to a hunger-free New Hampshire!

At St. Joseph’s Food Pantry in Belmont, which is one of our agency partners, volunteers and staff do far more than distribute food. They take the time to get to know each neighbor who walks through their doors, learning their needs, remembering their stories, and offering support with dignity and care.

One recent visitor had lost her husband and was undergoing treatment for tongue cancer, making it difficult to eat. Volunteers helped her select soft, nutritious foods and shared simple ideas for preparing meals and smoothies. When she returned, she shared how grateful she was to finally be able to eat comfortably again.

Staff and volunteers like Kathy, Mary, and Bette (who has been volunteering with the pantry for 35 years!) take pride in creating a welcoming environment and offering a client-choice, supermarket-style layout so that clients can select their own items, including produce from Hannaford in Gilford through the NH Food Bank’s Fresh Rescue program.

Whether it's helping a new resident access food without barriers, guiding someone through unfamiliar ingredients, or providing low-sodium, gluten-free, and personal care items, they meet people where they are with compassion and respect.

For decades, St. Joseph’s Food Pantry has been a trusted resource for neighbors facing food insecurity in the Belmont community. Open every Friday morning and Monday evening, the pantry serves about 60 families each week, and they work with other local food assistance programs, like Got Lunch and Listen, to ensure local individuals, families, and seniors have access to nourishing food and essential items. We are proud to partner with agencies like St. Joseph’s that turn food assistance into meaningful human connection.

All of us at the New Hampshire Food Bank would like to thank the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for taking the time to volunteer with us, supporting our Fresh Rescue program.

With your help, 5,428 pounds of high-quality protein and other frozen goods were sorted and categorized to be distributed throughout the state. This hard work produced 4,523 meals for those experiencing hunger in New Hampshire!

As the only food bank in the state, the New Hampshire Food Bank is a vital distributor and supplier to the hunger relief agencies that provide food to our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Volunteers are a central component of the New Hampshire Food Bank's efforts to help the 1 in 9 residents who do not know where their next meal is coming from. This could not happen without the generous gift of time and talent from volunteers like you! ❤
