📢 ATV Registration Update – Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife

The Town has been notified by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife that they are currently experiencing delays in shipping 2027 ATV registration stickers.

At this time, ATV registration agents have a very limited supply available and those stickers must be reserved for all NEW registrations. Current 2026 ATV registrations remain valid through June 30, 2026.

Residents renewing an existing ATV registration are encouraged to use the State’s online registration system:

For NEW ATV registrations, residents may:
• Email a copy of their bill of sale, along with their name and phone number, to [email protected]
• Or contact the IF&W Info Center at 207-287-8000 and leave a message for assistance.

The Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The local Memorial Day Parade, put on by our Mapleton Lions Club, will begin at 2:00 PM. We hope you will join the community in recognizing and honoring our veterans and fallen heroes

⚾️ **IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**⚾️

We’re excited to have had record registrations this year and to announce that this season we will be introducing a new Coach Pitch League for our younger players. With the high number of registrations this year, creating this program allows us to provide an appropriate playing environment for younger players while also ensuring that our 8-year-olds still have the opportunity to participate rather than being left out due to roster limits.

The goal of this program is to create a safer and more developmentally appropriate environment while helping players build the fundamentals needed to succeed in the 9–12 Little League division. This league will focus on developing basic skills, confidence, and a love for the game.

The Coach Pitch League will be open to 7- and 8-year-old players. Teams will meet approximately twice per week, which will include a combination of practices and games.

Registration must be completed in person at the town office by Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Spots will be first come, first served, and the league will be capped at 20 players to keep team sizes manageable. Currently registered 8-year-olds do not need to re-register. 8 years old with birthdays before Monday, June 8, 2026 will be placed in the Coach Pitch League.

To make this program possible, we are looking for two volunteers to serve as head coaches. If we are unable to find coaches willing to help, we unfortunately will not be able to run the program. If any parents, family members, or friends are interested in helping lead one of the teams, please reach out to the Recreation Director directly at [email protected].

Assessment Information:

Only new players in the 9–12 Little League division will need to attend player assessments on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 6 PM.

Players in the Coach Pitch League will not need to attend these assessments and will instead be evaluated during the first practice when teams are formed.

This new program will not affect the scheduling or rules for the regular Little League (ages 9–12), and both programs will run at the same time.

Thank you for helping us continue to grow and improve our Little League program for all players.

Crews are currently on scene of a structure fire on the Carvell Road in Mapleton. Fire apparatus will be back and forth to our pump house and to the scene. Please be cautious around the scene and operating around our fire vehicles.
