The Northern Lighthouse Transitional Living Program

The Northern Lighthouse Transitional Living Program Our Transitional Living Program opened in January 2023. We work with people from 16-22 years old who are experiencing homelessness.

While staying with us guests gain independent living skills while completing their education and entering the workforce.

November is Youth HOPE Month! We’re shining a light on the issues facing young people who are considering leaving home or have run away and are experiencing homelessness - Often utlizing our Safe Harbor Youth Shelter & The Northern Lighthouse Transitional Living Program.

You can play a role in preventing youth homelessness and supporting young people in crisis. Visit tnlh.org or 1800RUNAWAY.org for more info!

We want to sincerely thank everyone involved with The Miss Harvest Moon Pageant for their generous donation to Safe Harbor’s Transitional Living Program and EmergencyShelter! Their kindness means more than they know. The young people in our program are working hard to build brighter, more independent futures, and their support reminds them that their community believes in them.

We’re especially grateful to the amazing and beautiful contestants who made this donation possible. Your compassion, confidence, and commitment to giving back truly inspire our youth—and all of us at Safe Harbor.

This contribution helps us continue providing a safe home, guidance, and opportunities for growth. Thank you for being part of that journey and for showing such care and heart for our youth.

Here are just a few photos of the donations. There were many more items than shown here!!!

We’re thrilled to partner with Neighborhood Books Maine for a Book Club Sponsorship Program! 📚

Our guests at The Northern Lighthouse Transitional Living Program enjoy doing book clubs as a group activity during their stay with us. Most often the case is that we are unable to afford books to do so. Help sponsor a book that will expand our library at the shelters - and support a local business!

The first book is Sunrise on the Reaping, and we’re looking for 5 sponsors 📖

We're so thankful for the Aroostook Workforce Connector!! This program has helped our guests be able to get back and forth to work in Presque Isle when they need to be there. Without them, our guests may have to wait in Presque Isle for several hours each day before and/or after work until we have staff available to provide transportation. This has been a huge help and allows our guests some additional independence from our program!!!

We want your feedback about the Workforce Transportation Program!

Yesterday was Glitter Day in Mars Hill! Ashley and Emily were shining bright like a diamond! And today is Dress to Impress Day! No one is more impressive than our fearless leader, Blake Hatt! We all strive to be just like him!! Ashley’s idea of Dress to Impress was dressing like Blake. Emily on the other hand thought we should go in a different direction!! ✨✨
