It's hard to believe but today is the 3-year anniversary of a straightline wind and tornado event that impacted the county! Evidence of the EF2 tornado can still be seen along I-96 between Williamston and Webberville.

[TUE 10AM] A very nice day is on tap with highs in the lower-80s (and low humidity alongside!) A cold front moving our way increases the mugginess just enough later this evening to kick off showers and thunderstorms out ahead of the system.

Those likely won't arrive before sunset, so while widespread severe weather isn't expected - some storms may have gusty winds towards midnight.

This all moves out before sunrise tomorrow bringing slightly cooler temperatures (and even less humidity) for a few days...

We got the best of both worlds - a nice soaking rain without the major flooding just to our west, and without the strong winds just to our south!

A general inch or so fell across Ingham County overnight! While a stray thundershower isn't impossible later today it doesn't look like any widespread rain is likely, but the chances do increase overnight and into Tuesday.

[SUN 5:45PM] Rain and thunder continue to spread across Ingham County. Some of the rainfall will be quite heavy at times, so keep an eye on any ponding on roads if you're out driving.

This will continue into the evening before moving out, before another opportunity for showers and thunderstorms develops overnight. The threat for storms ends early Monday before coming back on Tuesday as the humidity hangs out for a few days...

[SUN 4:45PM] The leading edge of a line of showers and thunderstorms is not too far to our west, and continuing to head east. These storms have heavy rain and frequent lightning in them, and it still appears to me that the best bet for damaging winds will stay off to our southwest.

At the very least - if you had Sunday dinner cookout plans, now is the time to get that grilling finished up!

[SUN 3PM] Radar shows a line of strong thunderstorms with frequent deadly lightning, very heavy rain, and potentially some strong winds coming in off of Lake Michigan. Thanks to the clouds from that system, our temperatures haven't moved much so the best threat for severe weather still points towards southwest Michigan.

In any event we'll monitor this line as it moves into the area later this afternoon. We could use a good rain without any damage!

[SUN 1:30PM] The humidity is returning today as temperatures warm through the 80s. That combination sets the stage for some potentially strong winds with a line of thunderstorms that will move through later this afternoon and into the evening.

At this time the best "ingredients" for widespread severe weather are confined to far southwest Michigan, but nonetheless we'll be watching the storms as the come onshore from the lake as they move east. The radar snapshot shows the worst is still moving through Milwaukee so we have plenty of time to monitor.

Even if severe weather doesn't make it here, very heavy rain and frequent lightning is possible later on.
