Round up your hungry crew and bring ‘em for some good ole’ Beans & Cornbread.

Who's ready for some good old fashioned eatin'? The Motley County Friends of the Library will sponsor their annual Rootin' Tootin' Beans & Cornbread lunch fundraiser on Friday of the Old Settlers, August 28. The delicious meal will be served from 11:30 - 1:30 in the Library Annex. The menu will consists of Beans, Cornbread and all the fixins', Smoked Sausage, Fruit Cobbler, and Iced Tea. Donations will be accepted and very much appreciated. All proceeds will benefit the Library.

Our 2026 Summer Reading Program wrapped up Monday, June 29, with fun, games and an Ice Cream party! We had such an awesome and creative time at every session. Those participating in our Reading Challenge are reminded they have until the end of July to complete and submit their challenge cards to be eligible for one of our grand prizes.

The 2026 Summer Reading Program kicks off Monday, June 1 at 10 am. All kids, ages 3 years through 8th grade are welcome to participate! If your child is 3-4 years please plan to stay to help them enjoy the sessions to the fullest! Fun & games, prizes, crafts, activities, snacks and the opportunity to participate in a fun reading challenge are planned for every Monday in June, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. The 2026 SUMMER READING PROGRAM will get underway the first Monday of June. Lots of fun activities are planned! This annual event is for all kids, ages 3 through 8th grade! Sessions will be held every Monday in June, including June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29th, 10:00 a.m. until noon. Registration forms have been distributed at school and are available at the Library!

Join us for our Annual "Sweet Afternoon at the Library" Wednesday, February 11, right after school. We will be done in plenty of time to attend church. All kids, ages 3 and up, are invited to attend and join the fun. We will make a special Valentine craft, enjoy some goodies and read a story.
If your child is 3-4, please plan to have someone with them to help them with their craft.

Our Pinky cat got out awhile back and now we have six little Christmas gifts all ready for a special person. These kittens are very special and smart! They read all night so they’re a bit skiddish during the day and will take a little patience and lots of love and care. They’re not barn cats and would love a good, warm and caring home! Let me know which one you want. (The gray and calico have tentative homes).

We have lots of Angels still on our tree! Please stop by today, 2-5, and pick an Angel or two or three!

Our annual Senior Angel Tree is up and ready for you to come select an Angel or two to make someone’s Christmas a little more special. Each Angel features the name of a resident of the Matador Care Center with their sizes, needs and wants. Select your Angels, purchase your gifts, place them in a Christmas gift sack and bring them to the Library. We will deliver all the gifts to the Center before Christmas. The library will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 9, due to out of town doctor appointment, but we will be open the rest of the week, so come by and pick your Angels. Our annual Christmas at the Library was so much fun! We had lots and lots of wonderful visitors to enjoy all the awesome activities.The Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, and friends were the favorites of the night! Kiddos shopped and shopped in our Kiddie Store, while their parents enjoyed browsing the tables in the Book Store while munching on some free popcorn. Thank you to everyone who visited the Library for our special holiday evening!
