Help shape the future of our county — the Comprehensive Plan is getting an update!

Big-picture question, neighbors: what do you want Bonner and the rest of unincorporated Missoula County to look like in the years ahead? Now's your chance to help answer it. 🌟

Missoula County is updating its Comprehensive Plan — the guiding document for growth and development in areas outside city limits. The current plan dates back to 2016 (and the very first one to 1975!), so this refresh is a big deal. It covers the things that shape daily life here:

🏡 Housing — affordability and where new homes make sense
🚗 Transportation — getting around our communities
💼 Economic development — supporting local jobs and business
🌲 Natural resources — caring for the land we love
🏞️ Community services — parks, community centers, and support for emergency services

This plan lays the groundwork for future zoning and policy decisions, so having our voices in it really matters.

🗓️ Here's the exciting part: the public engagement phase kicks off this fall (2026), with open houses, workshops, surveys, and meetings with community councils — including ours! Keep an eye out, because we'll want strong Bonner–Milltown participation.

📞 Questions in the meantime? Reach county planning staff:

Izzie Varley, Planning Manager — 406-258-4653
Karen Hughes, Director — 406-258-3425
