Recently, we crossed a significant milestone—welcoming more than 2,500 members through our doors. While the number itself is meaningful, what it represents is even more so: thousands of opportunities to build relationships, offer support, and walk alongside men, women, and children as they journey toward hope and flourishing.

As part of our Sustain Campaign, we shared our desire to strengthen the safety and care of our space by adding Safety Hosts within Shechem. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, that vision has become a reality.

We are grateful to welcome Van and Quincy to this important role. Already, we are seeing the positive impact of their presence as they care for both our space and the people who come and go each day.

Safety is something we cultivate together. Every staff member, volunteer, supporter, and participant plays a part in creating an environment that is safe, loving, and nurturing. Thank you for helping make that possible. 🌿💚

As a community rooted in Milwaukee's 53206 neighborhood, we remain committed to being a place where every person is seen, valued, and empowered to flourish.

"Why a kids' book?"

It's for opportunities like this. It's a chance to share Hope Street with kids in our homes, our churches, and our communities. It's an easy and beautiful way to share our values of cultivating hope, building community, and protecting, but even more than that--how we are all beloved.

We LOVE getting to share our space with people. Recently, Ashlyn brought a group of ladies down to see Hope Street for the first time. In her words, “Hope Street just hits a little (a lot!) different when you are physically there." We couldn't agree more.

When was the last time you took a moment to see another person? Truly see them, not just passing by with a quick 'hello'? It's something that feels rare in today's culture--maybe something reserved for older people or special events. But it's something we seek to change at Hope Street.

As a staff, we talk a lot about 'holding space' and 'being present'. It's simply just taking a breath and being with people...Not rushing to the next thing or hurrying through the conversation. It's allowing others to be safe and valued in your presence. It's simple, but definitely not easy. But when we do it well, and someone feels seen, things change.

Hope is cultivated.
