Helpful tips and strategies to help families during this cold weather season. Letโ€™s work together to keep our school community and our homes as healthy as possible.

๐–๐ก๐ž๐ง ๐ญ๐จ ๐Š๐ž๐ž๐ฉ ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐‡๐จ๐ฆ๐ž
These guidelines will help you decide when itโ€™s best to keep your child home from school due to illness.

Fever: 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. The student will be sent home and should stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

Diarrhea: More than one episode at school and/or with other symptoms. The student can return to school after 24 hours symptom-free.

Vomiting: More than one episode, along with other symptoms. The student may return to school after 24 hours symptom-free. Every attempt will be made to tell the difference between regurgitating food and vomiting due to illness.

Coughing: Excessive coughing that keeps the student from participating in class work or is disruptive to other students.

- Frequent hand washing with soap and water is the BEST way to prevent the spread of germs.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
- If your child has signs or symptoms of illness, please keep them home.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, or use your elbow if no tissue is available.
- Do not share drinks, foods, or unwashed utensils.
- Get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, and drink lots of water.
- Avoid people who are sick, and stay home when you are sick.
- Disinfect surfaces that collect germs, like phones, keyboards, doorknobs, and toothbrushes.

Please let your childโ€™s school know about any contagious illness, and keep children who are sick at home. Questions? Contact the health office at 612-524-5217.

WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME
These guidelines will help you decide when itโ€™s best to keep your child home from school due to illness.
