💮The Bitterroots are still popping off on Waterworks Hill!

🐕‍🦺Just as a reminder, the temporary leash restriction is still in place on the Waterworks Ridge Trail. Although the Phlox is done blooming, the seeds still need just a little more time to finish developing. The temporary leash restriction is also in place to help protect other members of the sensitive cushion plant community that are still flowering like the Bitterroots!

Thanks for being a good steward and respecting the temporary leash requirement!

❗WARNING... cuteness overload❗

🦌Fawn season is here! We have been getting reports of fawns bedded down on Conservation Lands. These fawns just dropped in the Bancroft Ponds area so it's a good idea to keep your dog on a leash this time of the year to avoid any potential conflicts.

If you come across a fawn bedded down, please remember:
✅ Leave it alone- Mother is most likely nearby and taking care of it.
✅ Do not touch or move the fawn.
✅ Keep pets away.
✅ A still, quiet fawn is a healthy fawn.

❗When to report: If you come across a fawn that is crying nonstop, covered in blood or insects or has been caught by a dog, cat or other predator, please call Fish, Wildlife and Parks to report.

Tomorrow is National Trails Day! June 6th 2026🐎🥾🚲

National Trails Day celebrates the over 200,000 miles of trails in the U.S., from short local paths to iconic long-distance trails like the Appalachian Trail. It unites hikers, cyclists, paddlers, equestrians, trail clubs, nonprofits, and public land agencies in a nationwide effort to protect and enjoy outdoor spaces.

🙌The Trail Ambassadors will be out celebrating this Saturday at the new Duncan Dr. TH, Rattlesnake TH and House of Sky TH from 9am - 12pm! Please stop by and say hello. They have maps, information and fun free giveaways! They'll also be handing out rewards for responsible recreation so if your caught with your dog on a leash in a leash area, picking up your dog waste or practicing the yield triangle, you might just get a "ticket" for a free cup of coffee!

The Missoula Trail Ambassadors are a group of volunteer leaders who care about local trails and public lands. Partners include the City of Missoula, the USFS, Five Valley's Land Trust and Missoula County. They engage with the community by setting up at busy trailheads, connecting with fellow trail users, and sharing valuable information about proper trail etiquette and resources. This initiative aims to foster a diverse and welcoming community of trail users throughout the Missoula Valley! Five Valleys Land Trust Lolo National Forest Missoula County, Montana - Government

🌱Please don't trample the volunteers' efforts!

We need your help! You may have noticed all the new native plantings happening along the Clark Fork River near the new hardened access points. We've tried our best to protect these areas while still allowing river access. Please do your part and stay out of the newly planted areas and keep your pets out too! This is a sensitive time for the new plantings until they get established. All the areas have also been seeded with native seeds collected by volunteers from the valley. It's important to not walk across these seeded areas while the seeds are germinating.

💚In total, Conservation Lands staff along with volunteers have planted 1,070 native flowers, grasses and shrubs of 37 different species along with 8 pounds of native seed!

✌️Thanks for helping keep Missoula diverse and beautiful!
