🚰 Utility Billing Update

The City of Missouri Valley wants to provide an update regarding recent utility bills.

Following the April transition to our new cloud-based utility billing system, we experienced significant software migration issues that affected meter readings and the system's billing estimation feature. As a result, some customers were billed incorrectly.

Over the past several days, City staff have been reviewing accounts individually and applying credits where customers were overbilled. If a credit was applied to your account, it will appear on your current utility bill.

Please remember that this bill covers water usage from approximately May 18 through July 28, so it reflects more than two months of water usage.

No late penalties are being assessed at this time while we continue working through these issues. If you receive an automated email regarding late payment or penalties, please disregard it. Those notices are system generated and do not reflect the City's current policy.

If you have questions about your bill, believe it is incorrect, or need to make payment arrangements, please contact City Hall. We are committed to working with every customer during this process.

We know this situation has been frustrating, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our staff has spent countless hours reviewing accounts to ensure they are as accurate as possible, and we appreciate the patience and understanding our community has shown.

For the complete statement and additional information, please visit the City website.

The City of Missouri Valley would like to provide an update regarding recent utility billing issues and explain what residents may notice on their current water bill. On April 27, 2026, the City transitioned our utility billing software to a new cloud-based platform. While this was not a change in s...

In preparation for tomorrow’s scheduled repair, PeopleService was exercising water valves when a valve at 6th Street and Erie Street broke.

They are currently working to repair the valve. In the meantime, bottled water is being delivered to residents at Kovar Court.

At this time, we believe Kovar Court is the only area affected.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Eric with PeopleService at (402) 669-8373.

UPDATE: Repairs are complete. No service was interrupted.

Water Main Repair Notice – Tuesday, July 28

The City of Missouri Valley will be repairing a water main at the intersection of 7th Street and Erie Street beginning the morning of Tuesday, July 28.

Residents and businesses in the surrounding area may experience temporary interruptions in water service or reduced water pressure while repairs are underway. Every effort will be made to complete the work as quickly as possible and minimize disruptions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to restore service. Updates will be posted on the City's website and social media pages as they become available.

***Water Bills Not Out for July***
Due to an equipment failure, PeopleService has not been able to gather the meter readings needed to issue water bills. They are waiting on a loaner and will work to get the readings as soon as possible. During this time, there will be no late fees or disconnects.

For those that had missing accounts, most have been added into the system so if you'd like to make a payment we can accept cash or check and apply it to your account as a credit. Unfortunately, we cannot do this with credit/debit cards.

Truly sorry for this inconvenience.

UPDATE #3: The repairs have been completed and service should be restored soon.

UPDATE #2: Water has been shut off, the repair should not take too long. Will keep you posted.

UPDATE: At this moment, no water has been shut off but out of caution please prepare if you are in this area, as you may be impacted by a service interruption.

The city is aware of a water leak around Park Ave (West of the dog park). PeopleService will be shutting off some valves to isolate the leak. At this time we are not sure if it is a service line or water main, who will be impacted, or for how long.
