Idahoans join together in honoring the life and legacy of Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, who passed away peacefully Friday evening surrounded by Patricia and his loving family. Flags will fly at half staff to honor this great public servant.

A Monday evening fire destroyed the Caldwell home of Idaho State Rep. Kent Marmon. The family escaped safely, but the home is now uninhabitable.

Idaho joins in mourning the passing of former Governor Dirk Kempthorne, a statesman whose legacy of leadership, service and unwavering love for the Gem State leaves an enduring mark on our state and nation. Kempthorne died on Friday, April 24.

Idaho House Majority Caucus Chairman Jaron Crane said, “Dirk Kempthorne represented the very best of Idaho — strong leadership, deep conviction, humility and a servant’s heart. His impact on our state will be felt for generations. Our prayers are with Patricia, Jeff, Heather and the entire Kempthorne family during this difficult time. Idaho has lost a remarkable leader, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of public servants and citizens alike.”

He is Risen! He has conquered sin and death.

The story didn’t end on Friday with Jesus left hanging on the cross- Sunday was coming.

Today, we celebrate the risen Savior, our Lord and King, Jesus Christ!

Isiah 53: 5-6 (NLT)

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.
