New Orleans' most prominent heritage attraction is the Louisiana State Museum, a complex of national landmarks housing thousands of artifacts and works of art reflecting Louisiana's legacy of historic events and cultural diversity. The Museum operates five properties in the famous French Quarter: the Cabildo, Presbytere, 1850 House, Old U.S. Other museums around the state include the Louisiana State Museum - Patterson in Patterson, Louisiana State Museum - Baton Rouge, the E.D. White Historic Site in Thibodaux, and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches.

Join us at the New Orleans Jazz Museum for the opening of “Brass Band Headquarters: Donna’s Bar and Grill,” an exhibition celebrating one of New Orleans’ legendary musical gathering places.

From 1993 to 2010, Donna’s Bar and Grill at 800 North Rampart Street brought musicians, neighbors, artists, and visitors together for music, camaraderie, and collaboration. At its heart were owner Donna Poniatowski Sims and her husband, Charlie Sims, whose photographs captured the people and spontaneous moments that made the club so special.

Featuring images of Troy Andrews, Shannon Powell, Kermit Ruffins, Doc Paulin, Uncle Lionel Batiste, and many others, the exhibition offers an intimate look at the creativity and community that filled Donna’s.

Come celebrate the music, memories, and joyful spirit of Donna’s through Donna and Charlie’s remarkable photographs.

From hand-carved duck decoys to the rich traditions of Louisiana's waterfowl hunters, our newest exhibition explores the artistry, heritage, and conservation efforts that have shaped the Sportsman's Paradise for generations.
