An evil sun shines upon the swap. First, the tree, and now this mockery of shade, the fumes of unprinted paper. A crow named Lady or Lord Macboth is your messenger. What do you want to tell us?

The Sunnyside Book Swap now has a pet! Meet Macbeth, a solitary crow. I've talked to him (her?) before, and today he wanted me to know his name. The bag he so viciously attacks contains a copy of Shakespeare's work (zoom into the right)

One of the highlights from Sunday's piano evening. Here's a short excerpt of "My Favorite Things"—the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic from The Sound of Music that John Coltrane transformed into one of the defining works of modern jazz. Ricardo Gallo brings the piece back to the piano with his own lyrical touch as part of our celebration of Coltrane's centennial.
Many thanks again to Ricardo Gallo () for sharing this memorable evening with our community.

What a wonderful evening.
A heartfelt thank you to pianist and composer Ricardo Gallo () for an inspiring performance celebrating the music of John Coltrane's centennial. Ricardo's lyrical interpretations transformed our little corner of Sunnyside into an intimate concert hall, and it was a privilege to host such an accomplished artist and neighbor.
Thank you as well to everyone who came out, listened, applauded, and made the evening so special. Events like this remind us that great music belongs in public spaces and that a neighborhood grows stronger when people gather around books, conversation, and live performance.
A special thank you goes to Bite & Butter, our food sponsor, for generously providing refreshments for the audience. If you're looking for a great local deli, stop by Bite & Butter, open 24/7 on Queens Boulevard at 44th Street.
We look forward to many more community concerts at the Sunnyside Book and Media Swap.
