In the era of cyberstalking, revenge p**n, and deep fakes, our laws haven't kept up—and survivors of abuse are getting left behind. Right now, many survivors are forced to seek safety through a legal system that fails to give them the protection they need. But as abuse moves online, we need tools that allow people to act quickly, before harm escalates.

Jessica González-Rojas and I passed the CREEP Act to create a new civil anti-stalking order of protection that allows courts to step in quickly and gives survivors more, better options to stay safe. Forty-three other states have figured this out. It’s time New York did, too.

Stalking and harassment destroys lives. By modernizing our laws for a world where harassment has gone digital, we ensure no New Yorker is left without protection.

My bill with Assemblymember Eddie Gibbs protects the right to vote by extending polling hours after major disruptions, so voters aren’t denied the chance to cast their ballots.

Anaphylaxis can be terrifying and deadly, especially for kids.

As we expand childcare access for New York families, we need to ensure childcare centers are safe and accessible for all children. But these spaces can be tough for kids with allergies: they’re often where kids are first exposed to new foods, and children may be too young to advocate for themselves.

That's why I'm so proud my bill with Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal to require life-saving epinephrine in childcare centers just passed the state legislature.

By requiring childcare centers to have epinephrine on hand and to train staff to use it, we can make life safer and less stressful for kids, parents, and providers. Kids have enough on their plate—this bill ensures they’ve got one less thing to worry about when they sit down to eat.

For years, employers have used NDAs to silence victims of harassment and discrimination.

Amanda Septimo and I introduced the Stop Silencing Survivors Act to ban nondisclosure agreements and empower workers to speak out about abuse.
