New Alternatives for Children

New Alternatives for Children NAC provides real help and real hope to thousands of children with disabilities and chronic illnesses and their families throughout New York City.

Through an integrated continuum of health and social services, NAC keeps children safe from abuse or neglect and works with birth, foster and adoptive families to keep children out of institutions and in nurturing, loving homes. Beyond safety and permanency, NAC supports each individual and family served in reaching their full potential.

It's back to school season!

Here at NAC, we believe in supporting the best education for our NAC kids. Due to circumstance and health, we know that some of our NAC youth need extra support while navigating school, learning abilities, college and potential job opportunities. The NAC education team is here for them. From tutoring to college applications, we make sure that there is no education need that goes unmet here at NAC.

These incredible caregivers open their hearts and homes to NAC kids providing not just care, but connection, stability, and unconditional love. Here at NAC, we are honored to work alongside these kinship caregivers who need extra support for their children with disabilities and chronic health conditions.

Those backpacks just needed a little something 💙

Thank you to everyone who helped us give over 1,000 backpacks away this year. NAC kids were filled with so much joy and excitement as they picked out their new backpacks, designed backpack tags, and picked out new books to read. School is officially back in full swing and we love seeing the energy of a new year for our NAC kids!
