Do you know how to use a fire extinguisher?
Most people have one in the house or at work. Far fewer remember what to do when they actually need it.
Use PASS:
P — Pull the pin A — Aim at the base of the fire S — Squeeze the handle S — Sweep from side to side
A few things that matter just as much as the steps: • Only fight a small fire. If it’s spreading, get out and call 911. • Keep your back to an exit. • Aim low. Hitting the flames, not the base, wastes the extinguisher. • Once it’s used, even for a second, get it serviced or replaced.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember the morning the world changed — and the men and women who ran toward it.
343 FDNY firefighters. Hundreds of other first responders. Thousands of innocent lives. Families who still carry the loss.
We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the brothers and sisters who continue to serve in their name.
Today we remember. Tomorrow we keep showing up.

This year’s ceremony marks 25 years since that day. We will gather to honor the lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and all those still affected.
Rain or shine if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move inside the fire station.
