Pictured is Nancy Dean by a glass case display of books and artifacts. Nancy, as well as the owner of this collection, Vrege Murray, have been involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution for several years. This Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 6:30 pm, Nancy will help present “Honoring Our Heritage, Serving Our Nation” at Norway Memorial Library. With this program, attendees will learn about the Daughters of the American Revolution from local chapter members and discover how to determine if their own family story may connect to America’s earliest chapter.

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit, non-political lineage society for women 18 and older who can prove direct descent from a patriot who aided the American Revolution. Founded in 1890, the organization focuses on historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Nancy mentioned that they are highly active and participate in charitable causes.

Celebrating 50 years of "Roots: The Saga of an American Family".

Join us for the upcoming program "Honoring Our Heritage, Serving Our Nation" on Thursday, August 20, at 6:30 pm.

Celebrate heritage, learn about the Daughters of the American Revolution from local chapter members and discover how to determine if your own family story may connect to America’s earliest chapter.

DAR is the nation’s largest lineage‑based women’s service organization. It was founded in 1890, during a renewed interest in America’s founding era and is organized into local chapters, state societies, and a national society headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Light refreshments will be served.
