At 2:32 pm today, June 8, Olive Branch Fire Department C-shift was dispatched to a structure fire on Dogwood Court West.
Responding personnel included Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Truck 2, Truck 3, Unit 1, Unit 3, Battalion 1, EMS 1, and Command Staff.
Under the leadership of Out-of-rank Lt. Patrick Depriest, Engine 1 was first on the scene and made the initial interior fire attack. Truck 2 and Truck 3 provided ventilation and searched the structure. All occupants were out of the home at the time. Subsequent Engines that arrived on the scene provided additional fire attack, water supply, and manpower.
By working together quickly and efficiently and utilizing a dual-attack technique with two fire attack hoses, crews were able to contain the fire damage to the kitchen. However, smoke damage was present in other areas of the home.
No injuries were reported by citizens or fire personnel.
Upon investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be a shorted-out receptacle behind the stove in the kitchen.
All fire personnel have cleared the scene at this time.
