Today, C-shift got the opportunity to train with some exciting new firefighting technology!

Qwake Technologies demonstrated their new C-THRU
technology at the Olive Branch Fire Department Training Center. This state-of-the-art tool employs cutting-edge digital imaging to help firefighters navigate working in a smoke-filled limited visibility environment. This ultimately allows firefighters to make better real-time decisions making it easier and safer to protect property and save lives.

Special thanks to all those in attendance to observe the demonstration including Mayor Ken Adams, Olive Branch Fire Chief Bill Clark, OBFD command staff, Southaven and Horn Lake officials and fire chiefs, OB Alderman George Collins, OB Alderman David Wallace, Desoto County Emergency Management Agency, Representative Justin Keen (Mississippi House of Representatives District 6) and Representative Kimberly Remak (Mississippi House of Representatives District 7). We appreciate you all.

Thanks again to Qwake Technologies for coming out and giving us the opportunity to learn more about how to safely and efficiently protect the citizens of Olive Branch. We look forward to working with you more in the future!

Hazardous Materials are all around us everyday. They are transported on every road, highway, and railroad in the country - including Olive Branch.

Sometimes accidents, derailments, or major spills occur. We as a fire department have to know what to do when those incidents occur, how to identify the hazardous materials, and what to do to protect ourselves, our citizens, and the environment to the best of our ability.

This week, the Olive Branch Fire Department was joined by Mike Sheehan with BNSF Railroad's HAZ-MAT division for an educational refresher on railway-transported hazardous materials.

We would like to thank BNSF Railroad for their time and information and look forward to more training with them in the future.
