Shoutout to everyone who showed up today to prepare our streets for next week’s parade! Thanks to you, North 24th Street is looking fresh and ready to welcome the city for August 15th’s rescheduled Juneteenth Parade!

We had 45 Volunteers dedicate their Saturday morning and collect 30 bags of litter. Neighborhood pride is an action, and you proved that today!

We are counting down the days to the NAACP’s Juneteenth Parade on Saturday, August 15! As we look forward to streets lined with families and celebration, we’re asking every vendor, parade attendee, and neighbor to commit to ZERO litter. 🚯🗑️

Here’s how we can work together to from start to finish:
✨ Look for the bins: We will have extra designated litter stations along the route. Please find a bin near you!
✨ Bag it: Please keep your area clean and put all litter in bags before you head out. Look for a block captain near you if you need extra supplies!
✨ Be a steward: Help us leave the corridor better than we found it.
✨ Team up: Join Saturday, August 8th for a pre-parade sweep of the corridor from 9-11AM (meet at 3118 N 24th St).
✨Finish the Job: Stick around immediately after the parade to help us do a final pickup.

Let’s show the city the deep pride we have in the community we call home. A beautiful corridor starts with us!

Closed property signs are a reflection of business expectations, much like open hours. Businesses can tailor their signs to meet hours of operation, employee prep time, and events. This sign at Kellom Elementary is tailored to highlight legal uses of property such as teachers coming in for early morning prep, and evening community events. Businesses wanting to install a Closed Property Sign can find resources at https://police.cityofomaha.org/permits/closed-property.

Three Different Projects/Repairs Happening on North 24th Street.

North 24th Street Closures

Currently, there are 3 different closures/restrictions on North 24th Street.

1) A water main break has 24th Street restricted South Bound from Sprague to Spaulding; this is MUD work that should wrap up the week of July 27th.

2) MUD is also performing lead service replacements from Emmet to Wirt; this is a full closure expected to last until mid-August.

3) Finally, the North Omaha Trail has a North Bound lane shift from Cuming to Clark, which is in effect until late August.
