UPPER STRAITS LAKE UPDATE – June 2026

Progressive Companies will be conducting a spot re-treatment before June 30, with work planned for this week. This treatment is limited in scope and is focused primarily on algae and isolated problem areas in low-flow sections of the lake, such as canals and protected bays.
Please note that this is not a lake-wide treatment, but rather a targeted effort to address areas where stagnant water conditions can promote algae growth.

🗓️ Upcoming Harvesting
Mechanical harvesting is currently targeted for the week of July 13, pending weather and contractor scheduling.
As always, please observe any posted restrictions associated with treated areas.

To Orchard Lake Special Assessment District (SAD) Members:

Please find this correspondence in reference to the additional herbicide treatment that will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026. Attached is a map of the areas of the lake to be treated. Also, per the attached notice, swimming or bathing in the water is restricted until Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Please also be advised that irrigation of ornamental plantings and turf grass is restricted until Thursday, June 18, 2026 for those affected areas.

The following roads are scheduled to be paved today, Wednesday, 06/10/26, and tomorrow, Thursday, 06/11/26, weather permitting:

• Ideal Pl
• Woodlawn Ave

Please use caution when traveling in these areas and expect possible delays. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this road improvement project.

We are aware that some compost and yard waste collections were missed by Priority Waste yesterday. We are actively working with them to ensure pickups are completed as soon as possible, hopefully within the next day or two.

***OUTDATED Post - the roadway has been reopened.***

Old Orchard Trail is closed to all through traffic between Pontiac Trail and Willow Lane due to an electrical pole down across the roadway. Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route.

DTE has been notified but there is no estimate for when the road will reopen.
