🚨 NEW FIRST RESPONDER AWARENESS STICKERS — FREE TO THE PUBLIC 🚨
The Oskaloosa Police Department is now offering First Responder Awareness Stickers at no cost to the public.
These stickers are designed to alert police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders that someone in a home or vehicle may have a disability, medical condition, or other circumstance that could affect how they communicate or respond during an emergency.
For vehicles, we recommend placing the sticker on the driver’s-side rear of the vehicle. For homes, we recommend placing it near the doorbell or on a storm door, where first responders are likely to see it as they approach.
We currently have stickers for Autism Spectrum Disorder and diabetes, along with customizable stickers that can identify another disability, condition, or important information.
The goal is simple: give first responders useful information before they need it. In an emergency, that additional information may help responders better understand what they are encountering and adjust their approach accordingly.
A special THANK YOU to Jennifer Braaksma-Norgaila for funding this project and to MUSCO for designing and donating our first batch of stickers. Their generosity helped turn an idea into a resource that can make a real difference in our community.
👉 If you or someone in your household could benefit from one or two, stop by the Oskaloosa Police Department and pick one up for FREE.
