This National EMS Week, we’re recognizing the Huntington Prehospital Program — the team working behind the scenes to help ensure lifesaving care begins long before a patient reaches the hospital.

As one of 21 Paramedic Base Hospitals in Los Angeles County, Huntington provides real-time medical direction to Pasadena Fire Department paramedics responding to 911 emergencies across our community. Our dedicated five-person prehospital team — made up of a prehospital registrar, specially trained registered nurses and a medical director — works closely with EMTs and paramedics in the field to guide emergency care in real time. Through constant collaboration, advanced training and continuous quality improvement, this team helps strengthen care during some of life’s most critical moments.

Their work is a powerful reminder that emergency care is never delivered by one person alone. It’s a coordinated effort that starts in the field, continues through the emergency department and is driven by people committed to improving outcomes for every patient, every day.

A big thank you to first responders and ED staff for boldly and brilliantly managing our community’s life-threatening emergencies 24/7.

Every badge, every role, every act of care helps shape the trust our community has placed in Huntington for over 130 years.

This Hospital Week, we’re celebrating the people behind that legacy through the voices of the children who see their parents’ compassion, teamwork and dedication every day. Their words are a heartfelt reminder that the work we do leaves a lasting impact, touching families, shaping futures and inspiring the next generation of caregivers.

Happy Hospital Week to the people who make Huntington so special!
