The Pendleton Police Department had a fantastic time partnering with the Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon for our "Cadets in Training" event!

Young cadets got a hands-on look at police work by trying on junior police vests, learning traffic safety, creating stop and go signs, exploring a patrol vehicle, and meeting our officers. From safety lessons to big smiles, it was full of learning, laughter, and community connections.

A big thank you to the Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon for hosting us and to all of the families who joined in the fun.

🚗 Stop by Dave’s Chevron and support a great cause!
The Junior Jam Car Wash is happening now, and these hardworking kids are out washing vehicles to help support their program. Every wash helps make a difference and supports opportunities for local youth.

If you’re out and about today, swing by, get your vehicle sparkling clean, and show your support for an amazing group of young people. We love seeing our community come together to invest in the next generation!

Thank you to everyone who stops by, donates, and helps make events like this a success. 💙

Is Your Child Ready to Babysit This Summer?

Summer break often means more opportunities for teens and pre-teens to babysit younger siblings or neighborhood children. But age alone doesn't determine whether a child is ready for that responsibility.

Before leaving your child in charge, consider:
✅ Can they stay calm in an emergency?
✅ Do they know how and when to call 9-1-1?
✅ Can they follow household rules and enforce them with younger children?
✅ Do they know basic first aid and safety procedures?
✅ Are they mature, responsible, and confident?

Every child develops differently. Start with short babysitting opportunities and gradually increase responsibility as they demonstrate good judgment and readiness.

A little preparation can help ensure a safe, fun, and successful summer for everyone!
