We strive to preserve the history and culture of Anderson, Oconee and Pickens, South Carolina.

Lake Hartwell Country is located in the westernmost corner of South Carolina. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the region offers incredible outdoor adventure activities, like crystal clear waterfalls, whitewater river rafting, gorgeous lakes, parks, and hiking trails! Besides natural beauty, there is a wide variety of historic sites, arts, and culture. Visit Lake Hartwell Country South Carolina for a unique vacation experience! The staff operates a regional Visitor Center in Hunters Store on the Village Green in the town of Pendleton, maintains the Local History Research Room and Special Collections, operates the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of South Carolina on History Lane near Tri-County Technical College, and stewards the South Carolina Century Farm Program honoring South Carolina families who have owned their farms for 100 consecutive years or more.
