St. Mark's families,

Please see the message below from our St. Mark's Afterschool Program.

Due to the two hour early dismissal called for Wednesday, September 2 & Thursday, September 3, there will be NO St Mark After School program on September 2nd or 3rd.

Our Inclement Weather Guidelines are featured in the photo below and can be found on page 2 of your parent handbook.

The primary reason for this policy comes down to safety being our topmost priority for students & staff. We thank you for understanding.

Due to the heat and humidity levels in our buildings, along with the newly issued heat advisory in our area, Western Dubuque Schools will dismiss students two hours early on Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3.

Because Wednesday is already scheduled as a one-hour early dismissal day for professional learning, Wednesday's dismissal times will be two hours earlier than our typical Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday schedule. Depending on the building, dismissal will occur between 12:55 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The combination of warm overnight temperatures and persistent humidity has not allowed many of our buildings to adequately cool down. As a result, conditions inside our schools are expected to become increasingly uncomfortable throughout the day.

On Thursday, students will also be dismissed two hours earlier than their regular school day schedule.
The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain our priority.

❤️🖤🐾 And then there were 440 Bobcats! 🐾🖤❤️

Today might just be our most wonderful day yet because our entire Bobcat family is finally here!

Today, we welcomed our PreK students as they began their learning journey at Peosta Elementary. There is something extra special about welcoming our littlest Bobcats through our doors for the very first time.

From PreK through 5th grade, all 440 Bobcats are here, and our family is complete. ❤️

Here’s to a year of learning, growing, playing, belonging, and making memories together.

Not only are our students learning every day at school, so are we! ❤️🖤🐾

Peosta Elementary is proudly serving nearly double the number of students as when we opened our doors in 2005! As our Bobcat family continues to grow, we continue to learn and make adjustments to help our students have safe and successful transitions throughout their day.

When you arrive at PES on Monday, you’ll notice a little new paint outside! 🎨

🟡 A yellow bike line between the PCC and PES will show our bike riders where to stop, get off their bikes, and walk them safely to the bike rack.

🔴 New shapes on our playground will help students know exactly where to line up with their classes after recess.

Little changes can make a big difference, especially with a whole lot of Bobcats on the move! ❤️🖤

What a fun way to celebrate our school, our Peosta Elementary Parent Group, and our amazing community at the annual Peosta Days Parade! ❤️🖤🐾

We loved seeing so many of our Bobcats along the parade route and getting to celebrate all things Peosta together!

❤️🖤 Our Littlest Bobcats Are Arriving! ❤️🖤

We welcomed our transitional kindergarten students on Thursday, and they brought so much excitement and energy for learning, playing, and growing together!

Next up, our prekindergarten students will start on Tuesday, September 1! We can’t wait to welcome even more of our littlest Bobcats to PES! 🐾

The school year has just begun, but our excitement is already growing for one of our favorite traditions at Peosta Elementary!

Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day is coming on Monday, September 21!

We can’t wait to welcome our grandparents and special friends into PES to spend time in our classrooms, see what our Bobcats have been learning, and make some special memories together.

Did you know that Peosta Elementary has FOUR kindergarten classrooms this year?! ❤️🖤

With a large group of kindergarten students joining our Bobcat family, we are so lucky to have this incredible kindergarten team leading the way!

And here’s another fun fact…once our Transitional Kindergarten students start tomorrow and our PreKindergarten students join us next Tuesday, PES will have a grand total of 144 students ages 5 and under—that’s 33% of our entire student body!

Reminder that our schools dismiss 1 hour early every Wednesday.

📅 Reminder: Early Dismissal Wednesday, August 26

Western Dubuque CCSD students will be dismissed one hour early on Wednesday, August 26, for teacher professional learning and collaboration.

This early dismissal schedule will continue every Wednesday throughout the 2026-2027 school year, unless otherwise noted on the WDCCSD School Calendar.

These dedicated collaboration days provide our staff with valuable time to work together, strengthen instructional practices, and enhance learning experiences for all students.
