Our book club will meet again on Saturday, October 17 at 10:30AM to discuss The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. Le Guin. Copies will be available to checkout at the adult/teen reference desk.

A prescient sci-fi classic, The Lathe of Heaven explores the dangers of power and self-destruction though a tale of a man who finds his dreams can alter reality itself.

Reading the book beforehand is encouraged but not required. We will also select a book to read for November at the meeting. Hope to see you there!

This is for adults only and will be on our third floor, accessible by elevator.

✏Our FREE, drop-in Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP) for K-12 students happens daily Monday-Friday from 2:30-5pm!

📚Meet on the 3rd floor to get help with your homework, do fun activities like build with LEGOs, make cool crafts, draw, play games, and more! Caregivers welcome.

💚Right now, we have help from McPherson Square Library's amazing Afterschool Leader while their library is closed, and soon we'll have our own Afterschool Leader onboarded! We can't wait to see you and provide a free, fun, safe space for youth afterschool. You - yes, you - are welcome at the library!

Kids and Teens in Kindergarten-12th grade are invited to join us for a Saturday series of Kids Can Cook classes at the Fishtown Library! Classes continue once a month on Saturdays at 2:00pm: September 19, October 10, November 21, December 19, January 16, and February 20.

All classes are supervised by ServSafe certified chef Keisha Prosser, aka Keisha Prosser. This program is free and first come, first served. No registration required. Caregivers welcome!

💜Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!💜

Join local storyteller Ana Atach Atach Coach (By Ana Atach) for Canticuentos on Saturday, September 19 at 10:30am! We’ll explore songs and stories in Spanish through movement, dancing, and singing. Each highly interactive session introduces children to a word of the day, an animal, and a color.

No Spanish language skills are needed - it will be a fun and interactive time for all.

This program is intended for ages 0 to 6 years old, along with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome.

We are very excited to welcome Erlina Ortiz from Power Street Theatre | Philly Arts for a special Playwriting Workshop at the library on Monday, September 28 at 5PM!

Utilizing techniques from Maria Irene Fornes’ “Learn How to Daydream” style, and a mix of writing activities and theatrical games, playwright and theatre maker Erlina Ortiz will lead participants through a series of imaginative workshops exploring the senses and place as a way into developing a play. We will dive into the basics of composing a play and how it is different from other literary forms. We will play, and invite the creative spirits to play with us.

This event is part of the Library's Hispanic Heritage Month programming and is open to all adults. It will be held on our third floor meeting room, accessible by stairs or elevator.
