Keep the Academy of Natural Sciences open.
On September 1st, 2026, Drexel University and the Board of the Academy of Natural Sciences announced the closure of the public museum on the Parkway. The last day is scheduled to be Sunday, September 27, 2026. This is two years shy of the 200th anniversary of the 214-year-old institution’s doors opening to the public. The story is not over yet, and you can help change the ending.

Don't mourn — organize. The museum's last public day is Sunday, Sept 27. Ten things you can do today.

School is back in session, and so is the after-school routine! 🎒📚

This school year, make your neighborhood library one of your child’s regular after-school stops with LEAP. This free program gives K–12 students a welcoming place to learn, explore, and connect after the school day ends.

Families can expect free homework assistance, hands-on STEAM programming, literacy activities, and more, all designed to help young people learn and grow beyond the classroom.

Build LEAP into your family’s routine this school year! Stop by a neighborhood library near you during LEAP hours. No registration is required.
Learn more and find a participating location at freelibrary.org/leap.
