I'm pleased to share that four Philadelphia organizations in our district received $2 million in grants from Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

The awards include:

-$1,000,000 to the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises (HACE) to develop a new 38,000-square-foot behavioral-health facility for the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center.
-$500,000 to Esperanza Health Center to renovate the expanded health center located at 2940-44 North Fifth St.
-$250,000 to the Forman Arts Initiative to repair and renovate buildings, provide new HVAC, upgrade electrical and plumbing systems, and apply new finishes throughout the space.
-$250,000 to Called to Serve CDC to address critical structural and exterior deterioration at the Rev. Leon H. Sullivan Impact Center as well as enhance safety and accessibility.

I'm beyond proud to see these dollars distributed locally. With these investments, we build greater opportunities for both residents and visitors of our amazing city!

Please take precautions to protect your health:

😷 Avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
😷 If you need to be outside, wear a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask.

City services have also been impacted:

🗑️ Trash collection is suspended.
🏊 Pools and spraygrounds are closed.

If you need relief from the smoke or heat, the Free Library of Philadelphia is open as a cooling and clean-air space.

Please check on older adults, young children, and neighbors with respiratory or heart conditions, and stay informed as conditions change. Stay safe, Philadelphia.

The 2026/27 budget delivers affordability, investments in education, safe communities, and economic development opportunities to keep people, businesses and jobs in Pennsylvania, all without raising taxes.

This afternoon, I voted to give retired teachers, police officers, and firefighters in Philadelphia a long-overdue raise and increase funding for the Philadelphia City School District. We're also directing full funding towards the Student Teacher Stipend program to make sure the next generation of educators can afford to get trained.

This budget is a blueprint for a stronger, fairer, and more affordable Pennsylvania and I was proud to vote in favor of it.

I'm proud to share that my bill with Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler was unanimously approved by the House today!

House Bill 2224, known as the Return on Equity bill, would create a default, formula-based return on equity for investor-owned utilities that reflects the true market-based cost of equity.

Over the last five years, Pennsylvania households have seen an average 60% increase in utility bills. Electricity shutoffs increased by 21.3% between 2024 and 2025, with more than 414,000 Pennsylvanians experiencing a utility shut off last year - the highest number ever recorded.

Our goal is simple: while utility companies should earn a fair return for keeping the lights on and water running, it shouldn't come at the expense of Pennsylvanians who are already struggling to make ends meet.

By fixing the way these rates are set and reviewed, we’re finally pulling back the curtain and making the whole process more honest. We’re making it clear that Pennsylvania is done just 'rubber-stamping' every price hike that comes across the desk.
